Description Creature of the Week, weekly mini-contest
Fairy hunter.

I guess this is a good excuse to upload something at least each week since I'm no longer uploading almost daily the way I used to.
(I'm still techically mass producing stuff but I'm planning to upload them on single massive images instead)

So yea, this thing. Well it's pretty self explainatory. If fact there is text and stuff there so..

There isn't any rule agains explainatory book-like images with text and several pictures in the contest rules. So I guess there won't be any problem. Just wanted to make something different from my monster siting there on a pretty picture.

A very interesting and horrifying idea!

I half-expect to see one of these trot across the screen in Hellboy 3.

Your designs resemble those of Guillermo del Toro, which is to say you're in good company

Do you think that a flying insect could evolve into something like a western dragon?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dionette In reply to dinodanthetrainman [2018-04-02 19:57:57 +0000 UTC]

I think that might be too big a leap for an insect. It'd be more likely that they'd evolve from small gliding lizards, assuming they could develop the proper bones, joints, and muscles needed for powered flight. And the closest they could possibly come to a breath-weapon would be a chemical spray, either a type of venom or acidic bodily fluid.

Interesting take on a mythological creature. It is quite possible to see how this being could be described as half-human, half-horse. Very original.

Excellent rendition of centaurs -- certainly explains how no vertebrate has 6 limbs (excluding star fish and the ilk).

Much as I like the centaurs, the really inspirational bit here is the (para-)insectoid fairy. It's a good way to have a humanoid creature with insect wings. Smart pick on the lepidopterans, to get the upright body posture. Good way to create a centaur too for that matter, mantids having the four-legs-and-two-arms thing going for them.
