Thought you might like this:
The ideas that wouldn't let me go.Recently, I've been having some ideas that kept piling into my mind, ideas that could honestly be well used by D&D players and more. So, as an aside, D&D players, feel free to use what I'm about to put.
Basically, some undead concepts that came to mind wouldn't stop bothering me, so I decided to type them into a document. Finally finished them to get them off my mind, in between my typical routines, which took a dang long while. And now, will post them here. Hope you all enjoy:
Skeletal:
Skeletal undead are made of nothing but bone. Though, the types of skeletal undead can vary beyond this fact in a number of ways. Their sub-types are:
Tooled: Normal skeletons equipped with additional tools for both protection and attack. These skeletons have a knack for adaptation, sometimes even replacing limbs with tools. Having to make do due to the lack of powers compared to others beyond just reassem

I've been thinking of undead ideas a lot recently. I have some ideas you may like, if you're at all interested.^_^

Well, for these ideas, kind of count ghosts among the undead to a degree.
For these, imagine separating the undead into these categories:
Skeletal
Flesh
Spirit
Slime
Ectoplasm
Possessed
Amalgamation(basically, any combination of the previous ones).
But with each of those in turn having sub-types.
Take Skeletal for example. First sub-type, tooled: undead wielding weapons and tools, to the point of possibly even replacing limbs with acquired tools.
Then, there's enchanted ones, which could have auras, runes, different colored bones, etc. signifying whatever magic is boosting them and granting them additional abilities.
After that, there's mutated, basically skeletons with altered bone structures that have grown or reshaped for whatever purposes.
Then, there's constructed, where bones have repositioned and/or combined with other bones to make an entirely different monster. Sometimes even creating undead sapient vehicles or structures made of bones.
After that is the swarm type, where one bone is the core while having multiple bones swarm around it like a living swarm of insects following the will of the core.
And of course, there's the options to combine those sub-types together. And those are just sub-types for the skeletal undead.

Heh. Thought you would. Just the skeletal alone provides lots of options. Imagine with similar ideas for the others. Oh, and the ectoplasm one, imagine living energy basically that's like a spirit fused with energy. Whereas ghosts... well, they're not as strong in a single element typically, but in turn have more options for what elements they can use. Slimes are like a solid mucus or bacteria or the like channelling spirit(s) in them. And possessed... well, they can range from a living house, living paintings, living armor, and more. And each of those spiritual ones could have the option of having collected objects to use, like perhaps as armor or perhaps like an exo-suit around them to also channel their powers through.
Lots of options, eh?
This give ya ideas?^_^

question, couldn't the tech zombies also eat scrap metal?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rodrigo-Vega In reply to Meddyexe [2010-07-30 13:01:16 +0000 UTC]
Hmno, not as easily. The iron found in an organism is already disolved and the organs of the host are already designed to metabolize it. If they ate scrap metal they would undergo some severe organ damage and would need some sort of melting furnace instaled inside them.

If they did that, or go after Funeral homes (Lots of blood left over from the embalming process) they could be a real threat.

Very imaginative, love the drawings and the explanations, especially the explanations. I for one never truly bothered with zombies, kinda lame, so so basic, so... nothing interesting about them; But This, THIS is it, it gives a whole new light on the concept of zombies, truly innovative, it would be so much better if these ideas would be included in the basic notion of zombies because then zombies would be something more than just a walking, flesh eating corpse
