Back in Diamond City, the girl who lives in the Haunted Mansion is busy doing some kind of ritual that no doubt grants kids to hell. Red interrupts her wierd ritual to show her they got an invite to do the Mario Kart racing this year.Ashley is annoyed Red interrupted her ritual, but she's also interested in the competition. She's certain Gary and Stanley will be there, and Wario will probably be too. Not wanting to pass up a chance to beat Wario and rub it in his face she accepts the challenge and she registers with Red as her partner.

I always thought WarioWare characters would fit Mario Kart just fine. Ashley and Mona specially.

Ashley and Mona would make good additions. I chose Ashley and Red because they're two peas in a pod and would easily share a special power that makes sense (evil curse magic that temporarily screws with the driving interface.)
I personally like their team even more than Gary and Stan. I mean sure Gary and Stan are Super Mario's newest fanfiction token gay couple and therefore would be partnered, but their powers don't really have anything to do with eachother.

Of course, there is a very good chance that Wario will the one beating her and rub his victory in her face, being a veteran of Mario Kart. Not to mention the other characters who could easily beat her like Funky Kong.

In reality it would take a lot of skill to even place in such a race, but in video games it all depends on how good the player is. Ashley and Red are light characters in this storyline, so Wario and Waluigi wouldn't have too much trouble just bashing them out of the way.
I regret to inform that Funky Kong isn't in this particular storyline, due to not thinking of a partner that's decent for him and that I'm personally not a big fan of the Donkey Kong series.

In which the other characters have skill and experience, not to mention being in possibly more popular games series. In truth, I would rather have Mona, 9-Volt, Dribble, and Spitz, even Dr. Crygor over Ashley in the Mario Kart series since they were at the beginning of the WarioWare series. Not to mention possible Wario Land characters. The Donkey Kong can be quite interesting if you are willing to look.

Ah yeah, but I'm guessing Nintendo would probably choose Ashley or Mona over the others due to their fan popularity and ensemble dark horse status in the warioware world.
Stanley the Bugman can be considered a Donkey Kong character, as he was the protagonist in Donkey Kong 3 for the 80's NES game. Diddy Kong and Dixie kong would also make a good partnership, as would Dixie and Tiny. There are a lot of options open, including characters from other gaming platforms like Kirby/DeDeDe and even Sonic/Tails.
