Make the Exile Male and the rest can be female.
Oh & don't talk to me about "canon". Episode 7 blew up Canon.

He's Nym, a Feeorin (who differ from Nautolans mostly by having smaller eyes and no noses [tho, I've seen continuity issues with that] and some face tendrils). He's from a game called Starfighter.

I personally liked a female Revan (never even played as a male tbh), for the exile I've played almost every combination except DS male and my Jaden Korr was a Twi'lek female

I loooooove female Revan, I don't know why, but she's always been more believable to me as a woman. And the Exile... well to think of her being male seems just beyond stupid to me.

Some fans like the Twilek female version of Jaden Korr than the human male version (which is the canonical version), though most fans like the canonical version.

I accept all cannons, but I do rather prefer the Jedi Exile to be male. Not for any kind of sexist reason, mind you. I just felt that his romances, particularly with the Handmaiden and even more so with Visas Marr, were more emotionally invested and seemed to add more to the story. I do realize that the romance for female characters was cut a little short, due to the heavily cut ending. (Seriously, I heard Atton's death speech audio and my face was frozen in OMG mode) So that's why. When it comes to revan and exile I like them to be opposite genders (Diversity) so I liked a female revan and male exile.
Can't wait for the new Revan book and SWTOR!

nah it's way better if the Jedi Exile is female besides her love interest Attond is way better than Brianna and Visas. It's just like how Male Revan and Bastila have more chemistry than a Female Revan and Carth, seriously I hate how Carth is stupidly annoying and what more is that his a freaking paranoid.
FUCK YOU CARTH ONASIIII!!!!!!!!!

I don't care what gender jaden is
and i'm flexable on the exile
my beef is that revan has to be male
the story just dosn't seem the same with chick revan

I could care less if Jaden Korr was a chick or if Revan was one too. But I wish they made the Exile a dude! In fact I believe the Exile is a dude & I don't care what the canon people say. At one time Obi Wan was Owen Larrs' brother in the original ROTJ novel. Then they retro changed the canon to fit the prequals.
So I believe the Exile is male & I could care less about the gender of Revan or Korr. Heck make them girls see what I c[link]
But that's just me.

Hmm..... let's see....
Having a Female, this would act as good fanservice (Especially that of the Twi'lek variety) for guys, and a Kyle Katarn as a woman for gals (Need something you know, possibly a Samus like character). I can't see why not.

I gotta admit Revan never really struck me a character who could ever be Female. His relationships and past actions and mindset seemed very masculine to me.
He's always been my favourite Star Wars character since I first played the game many moons ago so naturally I took an interest in him and played through the game with both female and male versions.
The difference is incredible. Building up a relationship with Bastila through the force bond seems much more important in the male storyline and struck me as far more integral. It also adds a little drama to the battle between the two if Revan is standing there blocking every attack she makes repeating that he loves her over and over again until she stops being so pig headed and listens to him.
The Carth storyline on the other hand bugged the hell out of me. It just seemed very tacked on in comparison to Bastila and I hated the way Carth just seemed to forget his wife and murdered family in favour of Jedi lovin, when previously they had been huge motivating factors.
As well as this as a male character I just found Revan worked as a cocky arrogant git spouting one liners and Jedi Philosophy in equal measure, the kind of person who would be insufferable in real life but who was a joy to play as.
As for the Exile the opposite is true. All the strong writing and characterisation is on the female side of things. She seems to fit as a war weary very exasperated character utterly fed up with the idiots around her trying to sermonise her into submission. As a male the Exile just came across as Revan-Lite (now with 40% less wisecracks.) Again the romance sub-plot was far better for the Female Exile as as well instead of a shaky romance with Visas Marr (possibly the most boring Sith of all time) you had the mad joy of Atton Rand putting his funky moves on our girl. It also made the relationship between The Exile and Kriea far more entertaining.
And let us not forget The Disciple you couldn't even get him if you were male instead you where saddled with The Handmaiden who while having a striking look obviously wasn't a finished character whereas The Disciple had an interesting back story and was supposed to be the Exiles Padawan! I'm sorry but that's just cool.
It's just a shame that so many people got bent out of shape about both the Female Exile and the Male Revan. Personally I go with whatever choice fits the story best and Revan for me just doesn't fit with being a lady. Huge chunks of his story get kicked to the curb in favour of a bland Carth Romance.

I know this will sound weird but...
dosn't Revan as a male's name sound kinda gay? It sounds so much better as a females name.
Revan sounds like a kind of bird and a bird dosn't discribe a powerful male sith lord, more like a powerful, quick-thinking, kick-ass, female sith lord.

Girl power!
It annoys me how most characters are canonically white males - what happened to everyone else? I think there needs to be more diversity.
However, I do understand why they do make a canon gender. People bug the game developers, and also for wiki-writing it's handy to know. And I also appreciate how they kept Revan's gender in-the-dark as much as possible. Just look at the Kotor comics.
And don't worry about the long-winded-ness, I'm pretty bad myself.

It's absolutely ridiculous to think that a person's anatomy can preclude them from being a capable warrior, leader, etc. Society likes to say is that if you have a uterus, you can't fight. I also loathe how women in fiction who are badass are still portrayed in a sexual way in what they wear, how they move and how they are drawn. Especially since armour boobs are scientifically proven to get you killed. It's still fanservice for het men.
Even the idea of 'historically, women didn't fight' is getting shakier and shakier, as more tombs are being uncovered of women buried with swords and lances (and the historians are going through some impressive backflips trying to explain how they could possess weapons and STILL not be warriors or knights). Only found that out recently, but it made my day.

That's actually interesting. And what you think about it, wouldn't women be TOUGHER and more able to fight than men? They'd have to be more able to handle pain a lot better because of child-birth. And viking women were in fact warriors because who else would protect the villages from raids by other tribes

Ellagne In reply to candymandy1302 [2013-11-21 09:05:28 +0000 UTC]
If they'd had kids and survived, their pain tolerance would be higher than that of the average man (hell, people in ye olden times probably had higher pain tolerances than their modern descendants, period). I remember the Mythbusters episode where they tested pain tolerance and that was their conclusion. Not that it's scientific fact, but all indications are pointing in that direction. I think it wasn't just the Vikings who had that practice, or something similar to it -- in most feudal societies where the husbands ride away to war, they left their wives in charge. And even if those ladies didn't fight on the front lines, they had to be competent leaders to defend their homes from raiders.
