It's impossible for me to believe this is our hot Israel up there, it's a cold photo even though the bright colors. The trees and plants are almost dead, I can't even express it correctly, snowy...argh. Well you get the idea, another wonderful photo.

a beautiful IR shot... lucky with your D70 ... my 20D blocks out a lot of IR stuff so that it doesnt interfere with "natural" color tones.. ie the ones we see

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoieG In reply to mossig [2005-10-20 09:24:07 +0000 UTC]

Thanks,
I know the 20D sucks at IR but still it's a great camera, I recommend you to buy a used canon G2 or G3 for IR purpose.

mossig In reply to RoieG [2005-10-20 09:36:47 +0000 UTC]

i've gotten decent shots with it... just really long exposures and i still havent figured out the right channel corrections for it... thinking bout getting a 300D or 350D and removign the IR cutter off of the sensor ... i've seen some things on how to do it... that'd make it really easy

RoieG In reply to mossig [2005-10-20 09:51:54 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't suppose to be difficult, maybe you should try it.

For once I knew something, I regocnized it to be an IR. If I had viewed this like two weeks ago I would've been very confused about how did you make this. But anyway.

I really like the frosty look of this, crisp to be exact. Actually it's a bit like a candyland of a kind. Also, I find the tones very nice, so soft and yet they have that icy and spiky twist. Very nice work.

Beautiful IR image--I would like to try this but I don't know if it would work with my Canon 300D.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoieG In reply to WindCrest [2005-10-08 01:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.
Well, about the 300D and IR I would set high expectations... the internal IR filter in the 300D blocks too much IR for it to create nice IR images.
couple of friends of mine with 300D and 20D bought Canon G2 or G3 to do IR, and it works great.

WindCrest In reply to RoieG [2005-10-11 18:05:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your suggestions---I have a G2 so I will get an IR filter to fit--I look forward to trying it!

beautiful photo
the only thing that bugs me a little bit is that the reflection of the right tree is cut off, but whatever

RoieG In reply to magicofmail [2005-10-07 05:27:01 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I didn't think it was critical, but I'll check if I have another version of this with the reflection untouched.

magicofmail In reply to RoieG [2005-10-07 11:30:57 +0000 UTC]

it isnt critical at all, its just a minor thingy, not really worth doing a reshoot for
