funfact: she's actually half in my head LOL
it started when i noticed that Gil had a LOT of Japanese motifs in his designs (seigaha waves, the great wave on his dance class bag, etc.) and that, combined with the whole "Saltwater vs. Freshwater" thing, made me think of some Anti-Asian rhetoric, so Lagoona became Filipino (i'm filipino so)
so my headcanon is that her dad is a Kataw, a filipino sea monster, and her mom is an Australian Aboriginal sea nymph
