Hatred, hysteria, and fear are some of the most common madness of death that afflicts the ghosts of Piedmont, driving them toward murderous frenzy. But for Chris Canis, death has inflated his loyalty to Isaac.

While Billy trudges through the halls out of berserk bloodlust, Chris is cold and watchful, prefering to not dirty his hands himself. He sicks his dog Rufus on the unwary interlopers that dare enter the factory.

However, Chris's greatest resource may be his girlfriend Karen. In some ways, Karen has changed the least in Piedmont. She was clingy to Chris in life, now she is enthralled to him in death. She was disturbingly attracted to the factory’s rats, now her affinity is supernatural. Chris exploits her control over the rats to use his eyes and ears.

But Karen is more than Chris's surrogate of spies. Unlike him, Karen is more than happy to get down and dirty. Where Karen stalks, a black tide of her rats follows, drowning her victims and eating them alive. Karen joins in on the feast, a fact that horrifies even the other ghosts of Piedmont. It is no wonder that amongst Piedmont's cast only Chris is not repulsed by her.
