Description I have a tendency to put things off that I actually enjoy doing, and thus turning them into something I ’have to‘ do. Journaling is one of those things – when it comes to writing down thoughts or sticking in photos, I often think ’Not now, I’ll do that later‘. This is something I have really been struggling with lately, since the right moment never really seems to come. I forget so many of the thoughts I have along the way, and the things I do remember and want to preserve all pile up until eventually I let the thought of having to take care of them go, and come back to them only when I really feel like it. Two days ago was one of those days, and so I spent most of it catching up on my entire journal, sticking things that were flying around in it for so long where they belong, typewriting quotes I want to remember and adding words I only wrote on my computer when I thought I didn’t have the time to do it by hand. I haven’t gotten lost in the memories in my journal for so long, and focusing completely on it with nothing else on my mind turned out to be very soothing and inspiring. I never want to let go of this feeling and motivation, and yet I always do.

Why do we push away things that bring us such joy?

I understand this description so much.
Thank you for your words. It makes me feel I am not the only one. This often happens to me. The only journals I can keep updated are the ones I write when I travel abroad.

How does it feel compared to typing on a computer or a smartphone?

Mm, I hear ya with the journaling. Your journals must be so beautiful with the photos and typewriter quotes.

I know how this is. As a Sagittarius, I'm constantly putting stuff off. I'm a procrastinator in the worst way.
Seriously though, when I do get inspired to write or draw or take photos, I often get lost in it and after I'm done for a while, I feel more accomplished. Still, it's difficult to force yourself to do things that seem unimportant at first glance but then makes you remember yourself when do get to doing it.
Nice photo here, Rona! Your work is always amazing.

I have the same problem. I noticed that journaling keeps me sane, and still I always put it off for some later time. Then eventually I just give up, because it has just been too long.. I should start writing again.

I love that. [: Thank you always for sharing your photos with us. I lose my motivation constantly, and it's always so nice to get it back. :' )

It's great that you do it at all! I think it's great to do this sort of thing, brings you back to fond memories and times during travels and with friends. I have trouble just keeping photos together...... terrible. Some have been lost and I'll never get those "times" back, lost except what remains in memory. Nice you get into that!

I can relate to that so much.  I keep putting spontaneous art on the back burner to projects that I feel have to be done, which turns the art projects, which I'm actually really excited for, into work that bores me to death!  I finally picked up a sketchbook a couple days ago, only because I didn't have my computer with me, and sketching out unfinished ideas was so fun and relaxing.
