I couldn't think of a cleaver title so here's Shantae. I finally had a decent amount of money to donate to the recent Kickstarters so i felt like drawing some pics to go along with each one, hopefully i should have my pic done for Might No 9 done soon too.www.kickstarter.com/projects/1β¦

This looks gorgeous! Could pass as an official material easily.
Very well detailed, meshes all the older concepts of the character with the new one from the Kickstarter game. The technique is perfect, with line heights working harmonically to give a professional level of finishing. Vibrant colors, making this eye-candy image almost physically chewable.
I can't say the image is very original, but it does have some differences on your style of drawing Shantae's body. The outfit is the odd one that Wayforward choose for the recent game, and you translated it to your style perfectly.
You should get paid by Wayforward Studios for this. It's fantastic!

I cant say this is fair, and her is why.
This all seem less like critique, and more like commentary.
I understand the need to complement Rongs1234 on his work because it is great.
What critique to do provide, you then rebut yourself.Β
If yah want to complement him then by all means do so, but don't call it critique.
Critique is meant to inspire innovation and change to the idea work.
It is pointing out flaws that the artist may have missed so that they can be improved upon in future works. Β

I agree with you but I didn't found flaws. Anatomy seems right, costume seems accurate, color balance seems cool⦠This is a professional artwork. One change on the art direction at WayForward and this could pretty much be the official thing.
The critique systems asks us to give rates to specific attributes and to write over 100 words commenting the image. I did just that. I commented what I feel I had to comment about all the attributes. Just because this doesn't have this level of details , it doesn't mean it's a mediocre art. It fits the character's universe pretty well and that counts too.

I am not stating this argument to sound like an asshole or anything like that
and trust me that (in reference to the example you provided) is Not what I'm comparing rings art work too.Β
I would never compare his art to that because I don't even compare my own art to that. I know his style and I would judge it accordingly if I could but I cant. Our styles are not the same, we are two different kinds of artist.Β
As for this being a "professional" work.
Yes Ill give you that, Rings is a professional artist as he profits off of his artwork. Anyone who makes money off there art is professional, regardless of skill. That's the word I thank your looking for man "Skill".Β
For the nearly ten years i'v known the guy, hes been a highly skilled artist in some cases more so then I.Β
I give him Due credit, there is no reason why he shouldn't be at home at some animation studio.Β
In case you didn't catch that double negative let me restate that.
I thank he is better then us and is above Deviant art, with his skills he should be off making cartoon shows somewhere.

Critique is not just commentary it is definitive review of the work. It is an analyzes and dissection of what is being critiqued, and the relaying of the results of that dissection. Pretty big words, yes i know. Β
The purpose of this all is to detect any flaws or errors that the artist may have missed for future correction, for art work to improve or change. If the artist is asking for critique he/she is asking for correction, it means he/she is not content with there work and are asking for review. Β
If that established word in the art community meant anything different, the people at DA would have used a different word.Β

Shantae is one of those games that makes me WANT to be a game designer, ironic considering how little known of the franchise is. Atleast that's slowly changing, with alot of people talking about Shantae's previous games and the new one being made, it feels like this game may get the popularity it deserves sooner or later

Very cute and cheerful. The background is excellently done and fleshes out the picture while ensuring focus stays on Shantae, and all the gold on her outfit is shaded and shined nicely. Great work with her pose and hair too; there's a lot to like about this. Now that it's out on the 3DS virtual console, people should give it a try!
