I've been obsessed with Norse Mythology lately. In particular, I've been doing my own design takes on their weapons and other legendary items.

This one is the sword of the fertility god Freyr. According to legend (and Wikipedia.com), Freyr had to surrender his sword to marry a giantess he fell in love with. He was still able to fight without it, however. During Ragnarok, Freyr was destined to destroy and be destroyed by Surt, the king of the fire giants.

This sword (also according to legend and wikipedia.com), can fight on it's own if it is used by a wise man.

The sword has boars' heads on it because this was Freyr's symbol (he was a fertility god. What else did you expect?). When I drew it, I had the impression that this was not a large sword.

To quote Austin Powers 3 "It's not the size mate. It's how you use it."
