Well, this was a birthday commission for a friend o' mine--part of his gift. SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO FINISH! D8

The subject was to depict the Angel of Death meeting the Grim Reaper. I decided to have a bit of fun with it.

To start off, I spent hours on this. I don't know how many. But I'm still extremely unhappy with the ending product. I can see all of the off anatomy, don't like how the wings of the angel stand out--didn't want to risk blending them and adding yet more hours onto the completion time. (Plus, I doubted it would do much good anyways.)
I really like the concept. I like how the Angel of Death is pushing the Grim Reaper away over the life of a boy. You could glean whatever meaning from this you wish. Perhaps the Angel of Death wants to finish the job? Perhaps he's watching out for the boy on the behalf of God? Maybe he just likes being a butt to the Grim Reaper? Who knows, up for you to conclude.

To me, this was a very personal piece; though I wasn't satisfied with the ending product, it carried a very strong message for me. Anti-suicide. If you can remember, my brother has tried to take his life on many occasions. On a few of such occasions, he has been hospitalized and at one point was confined to a mental rehabilitation center. He's now been diagnosed with low-level schizophrenia.
Anyhow, if he had been successful in his attempts, I would be without a brother right now. For whatever you believe in: Luck, Fate, God, what have you, this boy is still alive and will hopefully be for many years to come.
Suicide hurts everybody.
