hope you have a lot of fun playing DA, also nice drawing, i guess i cannot draw the master sword without looking at a drawing of one.

I'm getting mine first thing in the morning. You'll probably hear something about character editing. BE EXCITED.

the way she speaks reminds me of L tbh
I don't like her that much, but i've already drawn midna recently and I'm not doing it again. plus the way she spins in hyrule warriors is kinda fun.
and i was looking at the hyrle historia entry on her, and i kinda see why they went with this design (though I'm not overly fond of it). every part of it is meant to match the master sword
and shhh same

Who?
Her spinning makes me think of her as one of those musical box ballerinas. Midna has a complex hat, if I recall. :3
Isn't she like the embodiment of the sword or something?
Now I just wish it would work properly. I'm not a stickler for graphics, but I at least want them to be functional. I've got loading issues, texture issues, mouths not moving, conversations skipping, random trees popping in, delay on actions and sounds in battle, clipping, occasional hiccups in frame rate, sluggish cut scenes, and it runs the system very loudly and causes it to heat up quickly. I am concerned. Gameplay and story are good though. :/

L from deathnote
yeah, she's like a figure skater and she's the spirit of the master sword or some such thing
i've had a couple glitchy moments (especially getting on the horse) but overall, everything's been loading really fast and i haven't had any framerate issues or w/e. some musical glitches after using potions for some reason? but nothing too irksome. i think it's cuz of the next gen console though. i assume i would be having trouble with my ps3 if it hadn't refused to work completely.
i like the characters so much more?? so much more

O.
Figure skater of robotic sword doom.
Wait, so what are you playing it on now? PS4? I thought when you said it was working you meant that it was working as it was after a series of hiccups.
Things are working better in mine post prologue, after the big black screen that says Inquisition in green. Sound matches up with actions now (it was odd hearing a hammer several seconds after Cullen nailed up the order instead of during) and I have yet to see the conversation bug return. But I have seen a few Skyrim-esque glitches. Cassandra likes floating when we fast travel and the quartermaster keeps talking to me from inside a hill. Oh, and two templars fell through the planet once and died. We stayed away from that road.
I do too. I still have my starting group as I fiddle about in Redcliffe doing all the things. They didn't talk up Solas prior to release, but I like him. He's like, "Here, put your hand out and do the thing with the explosion that might kill us all. It worked and we aren't dead. Fascinating."

essentially
PS4. the PS3 needs to be repaired, I think. and i still do want to get it workin because the ps4 is not backwards compatible and eughh yeah, gotta get it fixed or something. too much investment at this point.
the biggest glitch i've hit so far was when i was trying to leave haven for the world map from the actual exit from the area and not just the quest map. it wouldn't load my destination and after a long loading screen i was just back where i was standing? no harm. just a little strange. i just resolved to ignore that exit and use the map.
solas, cassandra, and sera are my favorites so far. will probably romance sera this round cuz she cracks me up and i believe you gotta be an elf to pursue solas. still don't have dorian or cole... not sure where they are actually?? must find all party members.

You next gen person you.
The backwards compatibility issue is the same reason I'm not buying a new console. I've had this generation for far too long to just say "woop and out the window" to it. We did that once when we switched from an Xbox to a 360 many moons ago. We didn't own any games for at least six months, they were all rentals and lends from friends.
I've had the same one, actually, though when trying to leave the Hinterlands from a map exit, and then again when trying to leave the Storm Coast. Haven is buggy in general. Val Royaeux is the city of people popping in and out, parts of clothing loading before others (the incident with the britches notwithstanding), and invisible codex entries that pop into place when you get near them (loading issue).
Solas is my favorite. He just rolls with everything, including every ridiculous notion Varric has.
"What would the Inquisition do without our calming influence, Mister Tethras?" "Oh, I don't know, probably go blow something up again." "If you two gentlemen are finished talking..." "Calm down, Seeker, we're just discussing our vital role in the Inquisition." "You need us, or else who knows what you humans might get up to."
Sera's sense of humor reminds me of Borderlands' sense of humor. Immature, full of bodily humor, and way over the top (Sera has drawn a crude sketch of a jar of bees hitting someone in the face. Also a butt). Not that that's a bad thing. I also liked how she answered several questions in her introduction about the Red Jenny folks in previous games, such as if you follow all their clues in Kirkwall you get Gamlen back together with his daughter.
You must be playing the rarest snowflake in the Dragon Age world. A gay, female Qunari mage.
They probably come in later. Cole is a spirit and Dorian is from Tevinter, that much I know.

yeah, that's why i got my PS3 in the first place. it was backwards compatible and i wanted to play ps2 games too.
but at a certain point they'll stop making games for the old consoles... i mean, they are to a certain extent right now even.
yeah, sounds like your copy is a lot buggier than mine =\ i mean, there are bugs but i haven't noticed too much weirdness really. but maybe i'm just not one to mind tiny bugs/glitches much? dunno
he is surprisingly reasonable for a wackadoo mage. that's why i like him, too. i can still tell i'm really gonna piss off vivienne though. oh and have you noticed if there's a display of their favorable/not favorable impression of your character displayed anywhere?
Sera is pretty crude but not in a way that bothers me? like she's insulting towards people but she's generally insulting people with high status who can take the hits. i think she just lacks a filter. the drawing of butts made me laugh. also the britches but that mostly because my main character (i think it was her) shouted right as the following fight was starting "why didn't you steal their weapons??" and it was kind of an excellent point. i also can't get over her terrible laugh aha. i was just discussing with friends the other day the ridiculously girly laughs of the hyrule warrior gals and how they got a little grating after a while so sera's laugh was just a breath of fresh air
go big or go home.
i really think i just choose my romance options in games based off of which character is funniest with little to no regard for anything else. this was impossible in dragon age 2 as no one was, in fact, funny. except varric who was not an option and zevran when he was there for all of 2 seconds.

Plus you can download PS1 games and play those.
They already pretty much have, yeah. I'd give them another year before they stop making anything big for them, maybe less.
I don't mind little bugs. Heck, I played a ton of Skyrim. But these are different. They are constant, consistent, and very visible.
He's not crazy, just a bookworm with a mellow personality, always helping people and smiling when no one else will. Vivienne seems amiable enough so far, nothing too out of the ordinary. Sera hates her. I have not seen any impression of my person, then again, I'm not sure I know what you are referring to.
I think "honest" is a good way to describe her. She is who she is and she won't change that for anyone or anything. My person did not shout about weapons, but then again, audio went out in that fight (common glitch) so I may not have heard it. Stealing pants is a new trick for this game. Said pants can then be sold for minor profit, named as "too many breeches" in valuables. haha
Don't you just love the Great Fairy's laugh? That is full sarcasm.
So not Bull then? I'm sure comedy relief characters in media would be overjoyed to learn that someone finally likes them. That is a fair point about the second game. Humor was situational and not as much individual.

yep
yeah, i can't see them? so i dunno to what degree they would bug me.
i mean the scale that showed you how much your party members liked/hated you in the last two games. i haven't been paying too much attention to news about the game so i'm guessing they probably said that was gonna be done differently in this game and i just didn't hear about it
too many breeches indeed
yeah, forgot about how terrifying that one is. great fairy is just terrifying in general though. seriously, who came up with that design. and why.
i don't find bull all that funny. i mean, he's gotten me to laugh, but something about him sits off with me. maybe it's because he's a qunari and my character is tal-vashoth and they just kinda fundamentally disagree on some things. they aren't fighting with each other or anything but it feels like it would be uneasy between them.

i keep subtitles on all the time cuz i'm prone to missing banter and sometimes the accents don't work well with my brain
is the game stilll keeping track of it internally and letting it affect you or does it just not matter at all?
and a terrible color scheme and hairstyle ughhh
he's not that flat of a character though. he's got a softer side.
personally, i would probably be made uncomfortable by it.

I found out that hitting the skip button in conversations once turns them on for that conversation, regardless of the context, without skipping. Hitting it from then on will cause it to skip. The accents haven't been too tough so far.
Probably? They're supposed to be able to leave if they hate you enough and get their special quest if they like you enough. I think of actions on a +-3 point scale, with -3 being greatly disapproves and +3 being greatly approves. The question now is if 100 is the limit or not. lD
White, purple, gold, and black? That's not that terrible, though it would have been better without her skin tone added into the mix. Heck, a black full body suit would balance it and still allow the designers to keep her odd armor.
Well, neither are the people I refer to. It's all posturing.
Have you never been around people who act like that?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RoochArffer In reply to SporeRedland [2014-11-27 03:12:53 +0000 UTC]
ah, it took me a while to discover the skip button but it's been useful on the occasion that conversations have glitched. it usually works when other things don't for some reason.
i'm vaguely wondering if vivienne is gonna leave me because i have not been making her happy at alll
it's more like magenta, yellow-green, and brown if you ask me. throw-up colors with a dash of pink isn't all that appealing to me. i don't think her design can be saved really. i'm pretty sure it's meant to be bizzare looking.
i wouldn't say bull is really posturing though? like, he doesn't have to try to look tough... he's a hulking qunari mercenary dude with a giant axe and a billion scars. he's already tough.
i've been around them and not enjoyed their company and so avoided them. i mean, assuming we're both picturing the same attitude? it's kinda something i curl my lip/cringe at (or would if not trying to avoid conflict)

Is it Square? It is X on the 360, which is the left button. I have also had issues with dialogue, particularly Dorian's. He just freezes and looks at me until I hit skip.
Ha. What have you done? She likes me after I told her mages should be part of the reformed Chantry.
Are we sure we're talking about the same character? Ivy from Soul Calibur. Her design is in no way functional, as proven by the folks over at Rooster Teeth when they had cosplayers fight in it (it takes one hit before they have to fight with arms covering themselves). It resembles most armor for female characters in fighting games in the 80s, 90s, and today. Her body suit thing looks like those in Mortal Kombat for reference.
Yeah. So I dunno. I haven't used him at all so I don't know his character that well.
Normally I would agree with you because many people who act like that all the time are jerks, but sometimes it is just that, an act. The person is acting like that because they think others will think less of them if they do not. I've gotten a few people out of their act by talking to them one-on-one about things we like and seeing who they are as a person. The trick is recognizing when someone is doing it because they feel they have to and when it is actually their personality. I have met some of the latter and I am not fond of them.

it is, yes.
my most common sound glitch is for some reason, a lot of sfx drop out when i open the menu that has potions in it. i'll close it and the sound won't be right. then, if i open and close it one more time, the sound kicks back in
i may not have said that
dude i swear we were talking about the great fairy from OoT. both have ridiculous costumes made of leaves so i can see how this mistake would have come about.
i don't think it's my responsibility to wait for someone to get past their macho BS and act like a nice person. i get that people have self-esteem issues and feel like they need to act like that, but i'm not willing to spend my time trying to trick them out of it. i think it's up to them to realize that isn't a good way to behave and that you're gonna alienate a lot of people by doing it. and i think there's a difference between acting like that and having the kind of low self-esteem that results in you being shy or quiet or something (where i am much more willing to try and get to know a person) because the former is more aggressive and just generally uncomfortable for other people.

Yeah, I have that one sometimes too. The LB/L1 menu has multiple glitches relating to sound, certain potions not being visible, and being unable to access features like calling a mount or drinking any potions at all. Going into the inventory with start seems to fix most of them.
It's okay, her idea of a hat may or may not be a cornucopia.
Ha. The train got off at miscommunication station. It probably doesn't help that we have huge gaps in time between when we get to these messages. This one was 2 days ago? Wow.
Be advised on language used below. It is verbatim and/or cleaned up from what I actually hear.
I understand. Perhaps it is different for me because I am male and therefore "supposed" to be included within that social group? What I do know is that people like that made high school a pain for me and have never been top on my list of people I associate with. It's a natural bully archetype that gets worse if they are around introverts from a different social group. Most people grow out of it in college, or have messed up lives. It's unpleasant for me as a male and I can only imagine that it is worse for you as a female.
We had a turning point at work the other day when myself and three other guys sat down (not actually as we were still working) to discuss one of the others who is always a jerk to us, and one of the new young guys fresh out of high school who might be even worse in time. We agreed acting like that was not okay and had a discussion much like this one I'm having with you now. When we ask the guys we were discussing to change their behavior, they say we're bitching. They frequently make homophobic slurs (referring to slacking off - specifically suggesting someone is performing sodomy instead of working) and to do anything not manly, like drinking wine or driving the wrong kind of car, makes one a vagina. Yeah, great, right? We're all hoping that when the season ends, they'll be the first to go.
The other guys used to act like that too until I started talking to them and it became public knowledge that none of them wanted to. They all thought they had to. Now the jokes about "crazy bitches" and specific descriptions of female sexual organs have completely stopped. Now if we could only get one of the managers to stop addressing everyone as "bitch," we'd be golden. My recommendation if you run into someone like that in a professional setting is to speak up immediately and do so at the highest level you can reach. Some people might find that uncool because you didn't have the guts to talk to them, but hey, who cares? If we had an HR rep, they'd froth at the mouth in a day of being back there.

i would speak up in a work setting. i forget if i told you or not but my friend just quit her job because she couldn't stand one of her coworker's constant comments about bitches and hoes and he wouldn't stop when she asked.
i think outside of that work setting where you just have to deal with someone and you've really gotta improve relations, i would not bother though. would you?

Your willingness to speak up is good. You did not tell me about that situation, but I am glad they did not continue to "deal with it." Did they enjoy the job otherwise?
You know, I don't think I would. It wouldn't be worth the effort for me, and there is no guarantee that they will not be negatively affected by peer pressure again in the future, forcing them back down the easy slope of bad habits.
The people that I know best and am closest to are the ones who were honest about who they were from the very beginning. No shells, no false bravado, and no qualms about what others think of what they like. People who try to act a certain way have trouble keeping true friends.
So I would not follow my own advice and try to see the person underneath the act. It's easier in theory than in practice.
