I love this version of Impa. Shes a no nonsense military general who leads from the front and inspires her men.

Hyrule Warriors has a lot of strong female characters who occupy a majority of the proactive roles in the story. Zelda, Impa, Midna and Lana hold positions of authority and Link just tends to follow their orders. Even Ruto leads the attack on the Water temple.

for sure, i was super excited to see the roster, aha, seems like such a rare occurrence
not to mention link speaks through proxi, who definitely has a feminine feel

Very nicely done on all accounts.  The application of gravity and bendy poses are a nice touch.  I see your favorite thing in the world, minute details.

I've seen gameplay footage of her fighting style.  Slow, broad sweeps and ruptures.  I remain curious as to how she puts her giant sword away in its sheathe.  The naginata has a handy ground holster.

hwhy thank you.
is it sad that minute details are growing on me?

she really just smacks people with a sword a JRPG protagonist would be proud of. like, and they're good smacks. they feel like they have weight behind them.

I think minute details growing on you is the sign of an infection, Kelsey.  Either that or freckles.
Seriously though, surpassing your aversion to tiny lines opens up all new, tiny doors.

"Minions of Ganon, stand out of my way or I'm'a slap you with ma sword of gigantitude."
They did a better job with Hyrule Warriors than most games in the main franchise, as far as perceived force goes.  That move where Link flips the camera around for the slam even looks potent without feeling or hearing it.  I would spam the same moves over and over again in Dynasty Warriors because they felt good to use.  There was this one move with a sword where you fling the sword into the ground, the camera flying behind you, and you roar as rip the blade forth and forward from the earth, shaking the camera as it focuses in slowly then explodes back out.  Plus it could take out a whole minion crowd.

yeah, i definitely have my favorite moves. twili midna's giant lazer canon comes to mind aha, cuz what's better than giant lazer canons. rhetorical question because the answer is nothing.

I don't think I am familiar with the non-canonical laser canon.
What about a bigger laser cannon?

i dont think a bigger laser canon would fit on screen. this one often doesnt or just barely makes it on

SporeRedland In reply to RoochArffer [2015-04-14 00:07:28 +0000 UTC]

Make it a whole screen laser cannon.  Bwoosh!  Your enemies are toast by the flash of purple/green doom.  Hm, but then you don't get to see it as an actual laser...  This is why the best weapon in the first Turok was a red ball that made everything flash white when it reached its destination, then a roaring explosion of yellowish energy engulfed the ground as far as the eye could see.  It usually killed the person firing it.  That may be a design flaw as far as weapons go.

RoochArffer In reply to SporeRedland [2015-04-15 03:14:44 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it's cooler to see the canon itself.
sounds like a rather large flaw.

So then does it matter what the cannon shoots?  If the cannon is the cool thing, then maybe it could shoot waffles of victory instead.
The operating starts to get a bad feeling about the weapon after noticing it comes with only one shell and no backup.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SporeRedland In reply to RoochArffer [2015-04-17 02:42:32 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, I find them humorous.  Not like waffles in and of themselves are humorous, but the word is fun to say and and the thought of blasting away goblins with waffles makes the entire situation ridiculous.  That's nothing though.  What I really want to do is defeat the undead with a couch.  Taste my couch, zombie fiends!  *whop*  Then I switch to my waffle cannon.
You never played "Grabbed by the Ghoulies," did you?  You could drop kick the grim reaper, punt imps, shoot ninja imps with a soda pop grenade launcher, and smash skeletons by (you guessed it) spinning a couch.

it is a good word but i think i like it more as a verb?
i've never even heard of that. i did play a game about goblins falling from the sky once. the goal was to be the last one to die. it was super chaotic. would recommend.

"That politician keeps waffling on major issues."  See, but you don't flip waffles.  You fill the waffle iron with the batter, press, and cook.  The only reason they can't say politicians pancake on issues is because pancake as a verb means to make something flat, alluding to the pancake's flat shape.  Realistically those verbs should be reversed.

It's an old game on the Xbox made by Rare, the guys behind Banjo and Kazooie.  It was one of their last creative projects before becoming a subsidiary of Microsoft following their purchase away from Nintendo.

But how does one make a waffle?  Smoosh.

I like this idea.  It sounds like a custom game mode someone made in Halo 3 that had everyone falling down a steep incline in cars, then teleporting back up to the top to fall again.  You squashed zombies.

yeah but like, into a pattern

there was no returning to the top sadly. you could "stop" and levitate right before the bottom but someone would probably steal your ability to do that right out from under you last minute. the last 10 seconds of that game were intense.

A delicious pattern, like quilting but with the only similarity being the use of patterns.  So, not like quilting very much at all.  Now I want to make a quilt out of batter and eat the entire thing over a healthy period of several days.

So you could slow fall but only if you had the ability?  It must have been done in short sessions.

You do not know my tenacity when it comes to eating the same thing long past when any other sane human being would have lost interest in the entire division of the food pyramid.

I assumed this was a video game, not a card/board game.  Hmm.  You had my interest, now you have my attention...  (I swear that is a quotation of some origin, probably from a villain)

You need to mix it up.  Try pastas from all corners of the world and even cheat with some rice and soup.  Ramen, mac&cheese, tuna noodle casserole, lasagna, spaghetti, stroganoff, Mongolian noodle bowl, and this near Eastern dish that smells like butter are some of your options.
I went to school with a guy who was a vegetarian because he didn't like the taste of meats.  Every trip to the dining hall with him became an adventure in culinary creativity.  You see, the only non meat product regularly offered by the dining halls was pasta.  Hearing him list his options was like listening to Bubba recite to Forrest the many ways shrimp could be cooked.

Something like that would be made by Paizo.

Since when do finals keep you away from the grocery store and basic human needs for survival in a city?

Gluten free by choice, I'm guessing?  That leaves plants and meats.  Sandwich a piece of ham between two thick slices of pineapple.

since always. no, it's that we'd usually go home for a while after finals and didn't wanna have food going to waste in the fridge

no. not by choice. why someone would ever be gluten-free by choice is beyond me.

That makes sense.  It would have made more sense if you bought some food on the way back.

Masochism?  That is what I think of when I think of someone who willingly cuts out 100% of any food type they are not allergic to and that has no profound negative effects on them.

there's this sign on the way to davis - did we point it out to you when you visited? It's an add for an italian place called "Mary's" and it just says "Marylicious" in big letters on it and we're always wondering exactly what that means. is it a good thing? a bad thing? neutral? who knows. we always talk about stopping there to find out and never do.

's what it sounds like to me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SporeRedland In reply to RoochArffer [2015-04-25 21:46:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't think you did.  We did see many strange food places, but I do not recall that one.  Something that is Marylicious would be palatable to Catholics, at least.  Homer from The Simpsons says that a waffle he thought was God was "sacrilicious."  "Licious" is not a recognized suffix.

We must have, therefore it must have hidden itself like the insidiously Marylicious sign that it is.
You cannot just make anything a suffix, Kelsey.  That would be like adding "pants" onto the end of words and expecting people to understand it as a universal signal for nonsensepants.

Well then thatlicious is itpants.  A new suffix has been createdpantslicious.  Uh, maybe not.
