Zygaena. this is no pretty merpony - this is a flesh eating hammerhead shark pony! The first of her kind anywhere - the other creatures of the deep tremble with fear at her presence as she roams the waters surrounding ponyland.Her name is the species name of the smooth hammerhead (Spherna zygaena). I took a few liberties with tail shape and coloring but she's pretty darn close to her aquatic counterparts. Those are her real eyes, cut out and added to the end of the hammer. The shark parts are made of Apoxie Sculpt. Her hair is Hematite from dollyhair.com and HiHo Silver from restoredoll.com
I am unbelievable proud of her. She is the first custom of this caliber and difficulty I have made (and that's a lot of clay!).

I agree! I wanted to do a shark-ish mer pony (nothing this complex, however--I can't sculpt for the life of me!); I'm glad you did such a cool one!

hehe she sure isn't pretty! But I like the idea. So origional. I drew a sketch of a sea-monster pony once that reminds me of her. I like the paint on her, too.
a critique though: next time, maybe you should try blending and smoothing the clay onto the pony.

Yeah that way it would look like it was part of her rather than costume parts. What kind of paint did you use? It looks... almost sparkly?

I painted her with acrylics. I used a metallic silver for the last coat and applied if very thin with a damp sponge

hehe, someone else suggested I make a gorey, decapitated sea pony to go with her lol - I'm tempted 
they eyes aren't too bad. I've done it before to make TEs and i've also cut out jewels and filled those in with clay to use certain jewel-only poses
