Gen/Alistair rivalmance, huh? i don't know. I've actually not completed a DA2 rivalmance. I did, halfway. And then I thought it was so bi-polar, I couldn't get into it. I guess I should give it another go. Does Hawke and the rival LI actually end up seeing eye to eye? Or is the romance just... "I hate you! But I want your body." Are there any devs who don't like the DA2 rivalmances?Also... nooot listening to pleas for Zevran. Lalalala!

Art Notes
Nothing new to say about this page. Hmm... well, I've had some questions about how to get facial expressions down. I use a mirror. One of those little portable mirrors. People use it for make up, I use it to make stupid faces.
A mirror is not only good for silly faces, but it's also good for quick anatomy reference, like hands or feet.

PS most of the rivalmances end up being destructive for one or both characters. There is a difference between the old 'opposites attract' trope and hate sex.

Doesn't have to be a rivalmance! (Which seem odd to me, too. They just scream 'Omg, this is unhealthy and bound to end in a domestic disturbance) If anyone can understand her rage and pain--and why she's acting the way she is--it's Alistair. If he can get past the baiting, that is.

Nah, rivalmance is actually quite enjoyable. I've only rivalmanced Fenris, but it's pretty much like: "I have no idea how I will put up with you but I still love you." Like that they disagree in many things but it doesn't really matter that much. They still deeply care for each other.
Actually, I have some characters of my own who I have created for my own stories and they have some love relations like that. It's so funny to imagine them together in some... um... sweet(?) diologues, especially just after their romance is "official";
- I have a horrible taste when it comes to men.
- I have worse when it comes to women.
- *smirk* How are we suppose to stand each other?
- It is a mystery. You're the most annoying person I've ever met.
- ...I love you too.

On the subject of Rivalmance, it DOES get deeper then just lust.
Merill, it's kinda like...hardening her ala Leliana/Alistair. Anders, it helps him want redemption. Fenris...well, he just agrees to disagree. Not sure about Isabela, never rivaled her.

A mirror! I haven't thought of this (so simple), I'll usually end up staring at people from afar to get specific facial features down, that is until they feel so uncomfortable they get up and leave. After reading this a third time I've got to say I love your work! You're amazing please keep it up <3

I don't think so. I even remember Mary Kirby saying that rivalry for some characters is good for them (not very spoilery: my Hawke had rivalled Isabela but let her have what she wanted in the final companion quest which she surprisingly realises is a bad thing...) It pretty much ends up with them seeing eye to eye in a sense.
No spoilers but to make it simple X hates cookies but with 100% rivalry X learns that X does not have to hate cookies for some reasons. So rivalmance is like "ARGH why don't you do things my way??!!! But I care for you...."

I say yes to the romance! After all, she is a noble who could stay by his side on the throne... or y'know, not queen like but just his bit on the side (whom he loves coz he's so naive.)
Also, I am now trying to find my damn xbox controller so I can start a new origin on DA haha... i always tried a Zev romance but Alistair always got in the bloody way! I'm gonna give him a lotta lovin' now

Well done but I am sensing a future 'incident' that will make those two get akward, other than the obvious reasons of course, but alas this is your story and we must see how it plays out. I am looking forward to seeing more of your lovely art, and how things play out. It is awesome to find somone talented in both writing storyline and art....As for the Rivalmance, heck I can't even get Rival with anyone...I guess I have to hate myself for one game and 'bite the bullet'.

Maybe you can alter the rival romance to where it isn't the whole "I hate you! But I want your body." thing. Or maybe later on they can perhaps start agreeing a bit more and then it's not a total rival romance.
I've never done a rival romance on DA2 out of all the times I've played it just becausI was topoafraid to see what Anders or Fenris would say back at my charrie. I'd start to feel bad XD.

Can't say I'm a fan for DA2's rivalmances. I beat the game once so far and did a normal romance. I do however LOVE to write the bad first impression to love romance though. It's so fun to start people off at disliking or grudging respect and then watching them grow from there. The basis of respect though is required. For Alistair and Gen there, I think they are working on that part of things and from there it might spring forth more, or they'll just be good buddies. Whichever you opt for Rooster.

I'm not a fan of the rivalmances. Maybe if you started out as rivials and then changed to something else in the end. I don't think its realistic to stay with someone you hate, especially with such strong characters. The friend romances still had disagreements, still had a sort of tough love from some characters without your Hawke having to be a complete ass.

Don't know about other rivalmances, but the one with Anders is pretty logical if your Hawke helps the templars.
And it has a VERY passionate final scene, I mean the one at Hawke's estate in the 3rd Act when Justice comes out in a broad day, and Anders says that maybe he is truly wrong but he can't stop because Justice won't let him.
A very well-done moment from any point of view, and the whole rivalmance is pretty exciting, dramatic even, considering what will happen to it at the end of the game.
Oh well, makes me sad thinking about it.

I actully think that a litte rivalmance would be healthy for Alistair.
I think that all romance is actully a little bit of rivalmance, because two people can't agree on every point in life, so it's more real if they at least fight a little.
And between those two, I think I'm really gonna like a rivalmance!
