Nara, Merrill and Tamlen sit by the fire listening to tales of their ancestors.I've had some devs ask me about Nara's relationship to Tamlen. No, they weren't an "item". In my mind, they were both secretly infatuated with each other but never confessed their affections for fear that it would change their long time friendship into something awkward. She only calls him "my love" when she bids his spirit farewell. Huhuhu...
.Now Merrill and Nara. I think they would've have been good friends before the whole deal with the mirror. But after the events in DA2, I don't think they'd see eye to eye anymore.
Anyway, testing out some techniques with this piece. I was trying to find a new way of working, but I just sank back into the same routine. -_- Oh well, why fix something if it ain't broke, eh? And Nara's right arm is abit retarded. Ack!

You do end up seeing him in camp about half way through the game. It's when he's almost completely a darkspawn and he comes to say he's sorry.

This is lovely! I love the atomsphere, and the general theme of the Dalish bond of storytelling, culture, etc. Nara's relationship with Tamlen and Merrill reminds me of me headcanon for my own Mahariel Warden. :') Definitely one of my favourite origins.

Awwww, it's a sweet scene, honestly I could see them being friends right up until the player steals her robes to outfit Morrigan or Wynn in a fit of metagaming.
In the case of Merrill, I got the feeling she did what she did with the Eluvian because initially she honestly believed it would help her find Tamlen, but after a time and the realization that Tamlen was probably already dead, it became more about returning a piece of her peoples heritage and finishing what she'd started.
Her biggest downfall isn't that she's a blood mage because as blood mages go she's easily the sanest and most benevolent you come across, bar none. No, her issue is that she's just so naive and a bit on the thickheaded side, sure she claims to realize that the Dalish view all spirits in the fade or elsewhere as being a threat(side conversation with Anders after he almost kills a girl), but it seems she doesn't get the full truth of this, she doesn't fear the spirits machinations or think to much about them. In the end it's really this naivety that brings her...and potentially her clan depending on how you swing it, to tragedy.

I love the way you draw Dalish clothing and.. the way you draw everything! our style is really beautiful, although this kind of picture from the dalish origin always makes me sad :~~ their future is so.. so... sob

I always thought the saddest thing about Mahariel and Tamlen, is that they didn't realise what they meant to one another, until it was too late. *sniff sniff* I cried FOREVER durng the camp scene in Origins, you know the one. *sniff sniff*
Now that I have that out of my system, this has a very nice and comfortable ambience, you really do great things with light and this is no different. I feel like making smores!
It's nice to see Merrill too, and while I'm not keen on the footless Peter Pan tights they have the Dalish wearing in DA2, you did draw them well. I like how you seem to be drawing the elves more as they looked in Origins than DA2 in this piece, which I like, but even with personal preferences (you're drawing for yourself afterall) it's a great piece with a great look and a nice cozy warmth to it.
It makes me think of camping during the summer with my mates, and some of the girls would be falling asleep, while the rest of us were trying to stay awake and talk about boys, or if the boys were there, make moon eyes at them.
