My first time drawing Mikey and Klunkie together! I adore this pairing, AKA Michelunkie. To be honest, I'd never thought of Klunk as being a girl until BossanovaInk convinced me otherwise. And now I'm hooked.
I mean after I thought about it I realized this couple really is only natural considering how much Mikey has always loved his cat - we all know he does!
Of course, Klunk's mutation occurs by accident.

It happened one day when Klunk got really sick; Mikey was so worried about her he begged April to take her to a vet. April did so, and it turned out that Klunk had to stay overnight "for observation." But that night, Bebop and Rocksteady show up and break into the clinic to steal animals for Shredder to test the "ooze" on.

The two boneheads were only supposed to steal the pets, but Rock brought a canister of mutagen with them 'cause they "won't get to have any fun otherwise." Now at the same time, Mikey, having been too upset to stay at home, arrives at the vet clinic with April (to maybe sneak in and stay the night with his kitty) - and they're both shocked to see the villains.

Having wasted so much time trying to decide which of the sick pets to use the mutagen on, Bebop and Rocksteady didn't actually get around to loading any of them into their van. Worried about Klunk, Mikey jumps out to fight them and finds out what the two are doing there. When Mikey suddenly calls to Klunk, she meows to him, but this allows the baddies to identify her as belonging to the turtle. They grab her cage before Mikey can, and goad Mike by threatening to hurt her.

April offers a timely distraction which allows Mikey to grab the cage from Bepop, but before he can get to April's van, Rocksteady hits him with his massive fist. April is able to catch the cage, and, upon Mikey's insistence, hustles back to her own van to let Klunk out.

Unfortunately the baddies get the better of Mikey, stomping on him a bit before deciding to use the ooze on him. Shocked, April gets back out of her van not knowing how she's going to help. This allows Klunk to jump out and knock the canister from the rhino's hand. Klunk is able to save Mikey, but the canister falls and breaks, splashing all over her instead.

Knowing they'll get in trouble, Rocksteady and Bebop grab what animals they can and take off, leaving Mikey to freak out about his mutating cat. April gives Mikey a blanket from her van, and he throws it over his cat before picking her up and carrying her to the van. April swiftly drives them home, to the Lair beneath the old church. Needless to say, everyone is shocked, including Klunk, who, from that time on, prefers to be called Klunkie.
