Sunny Trails is a natural born explorer and loves the outdoors, he is determined to travel to every part of his forest home and so far there hasn't been a terrane that he hasn't explored but always up for a challenge no matter what is at stake or how hard it is to him the harder challenges are always the most rewarding. He has made friends with the wildlife and even has a pet bear which he calls Akakabuto, which Sunny raised from a cub after his mother was killed.

Just like Fluttershy he has a special connection with the wildlife and knows how to communicate with them, he also has vast knowledge of plants and which are safe and not safe to eat, though most wouldn't believe he wasn't always a forest pony in fact he was born in Sire's Hallow to a wealthy couple to which he was given everything he would ever want but the thing is he wasn't happy in that place his parents were always to busy and whenever he would try to tell them how he felt all they ever did was give him some bits and tell him to go buy something he wanted.

Of course this didn't help him and would just put in a saving account for when he's older and would leave this place, one day while he was out he saw a wooded area a few miles from his house, something about it called the young to it he couldn't explain it but he let his legs lead the way, he soon entered a new world that was new and exciting. Tree's so tall it looked like they could touch the heavens themselves, flora and fauna so enchanting it was like he was in one of those enchanted forests from his many books.

It was everything he could ever ask for, the following years he would go to that forest and explore all it's majesty of course his parents weren't thrilled with the idea of their son rampaging around in a forest were he could get dirty but he didn't listen that forest was an escape from his stuffy closed off life. out there it was real, untamed, and exciting. During one of his ventures he had seen a bush of wild blackberries and accidentally cut his snout on one of the thorns luckily he had a little first aid kit it wasn't life threatening and sure it hurt but he'd been in worse however his parents nearly flipped out when they saw him with a bandage on his nose.

Sunny tried to calm them down but in a fit of hysterics his mother slapped him across the face and scolded him in a way that was never seen before, his mother had never done that before he was taken aback holding his cheek as it stung even his father was shocked never in his life had ever seen his wife raise a hoof to anypony especially their own son when she finally realized what she had done she tried to apologize but Sunny just ran to him room in tears. The young colt felt frightened if she could get this worked up then he feared what would happen if it were to happen again but this was the final straw for him.

That night he packed what he needed plus a book of plants to look out for and even bought himself camping supplies, he was finally leaving he snuck out during the night and made his way to the forest his only haven he knew, his first night was hard but he enjoyed it and soon he got the hang of it, as he grew older he commissioned a cabin for himself to live in and as well as learning about this strange and beauty of this new world and even got his cutie mark is navigation and explorations.
