My first acrylic painting. Actually, my first painting ever. Please see at full view to see all the detail. I put a lot of work into this, and would really appreciate any critiques. I like the paiting alot but would like to see more variation in the back ground. It seems like the blue is kind of flat and makes the bird not have as much depth as it could have if paired with some kizmet design of say, clound or some mottled fluffy stuff added in as a design element to bring the eye all around the painting.
Over all it is a great painting of my favorite raptor. Great job!

Thank you! Your comment made me laugh out loud. Hand vomit. lol You have a way with words/ good imagination also. Your artwork proves that point. Just keep practicing, it's about the only way to get better. I practice every day, sometimes all day. Still need improvement, but I suspect I'll never be truly satisfied. Guess that makes me an artist.

Such a FANTASTIC job for a first painting! I'm a big acrylic fan, especially for those who have a natural good hand at it! I'm also a big fan of anything avian, so this is a great pair for me! :]

Actually, I think colored pencils are my niche. I so enjoy them...get lost in my work...all those details keep my distracted from everything else. Painting is too much like work!

This is really good, especially seeing as this is your 1st attempt at painting! Amazing.
If I could make a suggestion, it would be to add more to the background. Doing so would really make this pic "come alive".

I find it hard to believe that this is your first painting o.o The level of attention to detail is quite exquisite.
Perhaps the photograph/scan of your piece is a little dark because the whites and highlights are not reading as well as I'm sure they are in the original.
