What?! Another finished SOMETHING?!
Finally, right? I've had this mermaid cut out and taped to a wall for MONTHS now, and only just finally put her where she belongs - on a watercolor washed background, which has been placed on another watercolor washed background, serving as a "frame", while sea weed dangles and dances in the underwater currents (cut from yet another watercolor wash).
Basically, it's a mix of watercolor and collage. Used an exacto knife to cut lady mermaid and the sea weed out, then did the washes, glued it all together, and voila!
It looks so much better in real life

Wow, this is gorgeous! I wish it would have been around when I did my big mermaid feature in my journal. I adore her, she is really gorgeous! I love the head thrown back and the tension in her neck muscles is really well drawn. The hair is indescribably beautiful. I love the way it's dark color contrasts with her bright orange and red tail. The way you carried the scales up her torso, arms and face really sets the whole thing off. The tail fin is incredible. I love the red tips fading into the bright yellow! Her body as a whole is just amazing! I envy your skill at drawing a gorgeous, curvy female and her arms and hands are just perfect! Her fingers are so dainty! The background is so beautiful as well. The coolness of the blues and greens really make this fabulous, fiery mermaid pop! One of the most beautiful mermaids I've ever seen on deviantart, I promise you!
