Oh Foxes. The ONE kind of canine, next to the wolf, that you sadly can't love without people throwing the accusation at you that you are a furry, a furfag, an -aboo or, if you mean its associated mythological demon, a -utard (hint, a popular Japanese anime). Nevertheless, they are one of my favourite animals (Fennecs and artic foxes especially). I especially am very fond of their multi-tailed mythological counterparts- the Japanese kitsune, the Chinese hu-li Jing and even the menacing liver eating Gumiho from Korean folklore.

Here however, is my list of favourite fictional foxes. And Yes I love a lot of them, and while I'm a HUGE fan of kitsune etc. I'm trying to limit my number of anime-associated foxes down to only my very favourite ones on this list (so the ones from western animation etc can have more spaces too). That way, it won't seem like a weeaboo list.

Ok, here we go:

10. Mr Todd (Peter Rabbit stories by Beatrix Potter)
Being the villian of several Beatrix Potter tales (ESPECIALLY the ones focusing on the flopsy bunnies, Peter and Jemima Puddle Duck), this sly gentleman of a fox pretty much represents the stranger that seems nice, but is actually a predator whos finding ways to get his lunch- meaning the heros of the story. And yes, being the cunning guy he is, he almost succeeds in getting his prey (a notable one being Jemima and her eggs) but like most villians, luck is always on the good guys' side (in Jemima's case, 2 foxhound puppies)- and he has to flee.

9. Basil Brush
BOOM BOOM! This famous cheeky puppet fox has been a favourite in the UK for many many years. He's charming, hilarious, fiesty and In the older shows though, his humour was said to be a bit more racy.....but anyways if any of you haven't heard of him, here's an episode of one of his recent shows to check him out XD
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ism2xr…

8. The Fox from Tex Avery's Outfoxed
Appearing in one Droopy Dog Cartoon by the famous Tex Avery, this hilarious dry-humoured British fox (named Reginald) is one who CONSTANTLY outsmarts his captors (a group of fox hounds, one of them being Droopy)- and with style (take note of the bricks-dropping scene *posh voice* one, two thrrrrrree, four*  XD)- kinda like a more posh and gentlemanly Bugs Bunny.
heres the short if you are curious to see this fox in action:

7. Sebastien the Fox (Meet the Feebles)
One of the Earlier films by Peter Jackson, this VERY vulgar movie I actually kinda like in some ways. I CAN stomach gore as well as crude humour (hey I sometimes watch South Park!) but sometimes it gets a BIIIIIIIT too much its unsettling. This film however, has hilarious moments- and even catchy songs (garden of love and one leg missing being my favourites). Sebastien is the manager of the 'Feebles Variety hour' show and is very........flamboyant to say the least. Dressing in sparkly outfits, speaking with a slightly feminine kind of voice.....buuuuut the one thing that I dunno whether to say whether he sold it for me or made me feel WTF.....but all in all kinda laughed.....was his song about 'Sodomy'. Good LORD the IMAGERY to go with it. (look it up on YT I DARE YOU) but thankfully, he wasn't eliminated by Trevor the Rat or a Rampaging Heidi Hippo during the climax LOL

6. Vulpix, Ninetales, Eevee, its fox-like eeveelutions (not all are fox like though), Zorua, Zoroark, Fennekin and its evos (All pokemon games)
MAN, it was HARD Seeing as I had to LIMIT my Anime-related fox choices. but since I LOVE them all in various ways, I thought, SCRATCH THAT- put them all in this spot. and I do love them all for different reasons:
-The Vulpix line represent the Myobuu (or somewhat benelovent) side to the kitsune- and Ninetales was the first kyuubi I ever saw as a kid (the second one being ANOTHER mon-related fox on the list). Zoroark and its pre-evo represent the Nogitsune or the 'dark' side to kitsune- which includes the shapeshifting powers.
And Alright, yes I'm guilty of loving eevee and all its evolutions. <3 And Fennekin and its evos (INCLUDING Delphox) are my favourite fire starters of all time.

5. Sir Didymus (Labyrinth)
Much like the rest of the non-human/muppet/puppet cast of Labyrinth, Sir Didymus is fairly underrated (ESPECIALLY since many of the fangirls are too busy drooling over Jareth's outer beauty or too busy with the SarahxJareth shipping *rolls eyes* Look, I like Jareth because he's a cool VILLIAN and the fact David Bowie plays him well, but that's for some other time.) But anyways, back to Sir Didymus, who is my FAVOURITE character in the film (besides Ludo and Hoggle). What do I love about this crazy little fox guy? Apart from the fact he rides his trusty Ambrosius (his dog that resembles Sarah's in the real world) I think he's absolutely adorable and funny and fiesty and will fight to the end- especially for those he is loyal towards Much like the next contender on this list....

4. Renamon and her Evolutions (Digimon Tamers- Season 3 of Digimon)
dA people: OMG HOW DARE YOU PUT RENAMON SO HIGH ON THIS LIST! SHE'S OVERRATED!1111
*sigh* Look- This is why I BARELY ever take part in both Pokemon and Digimon fandoms. Apart from the infamous fanbrat war, I'm TIRED of people anyhow THROWING the word 'OVERRATED' here and there and making it as if its a sin to like a POPULAR character. To quote - a favourite youtuber of mine- such *r34 imagery* does NOT have anything to do with being 'overrated' it just provides more fapping material for people, not actual praise. If anything, if a character gets called a persons' 'FAVOURITE' its just 'a fan favourite' BUT if it constantly gets called 'The Best' then its another story. Renamons case just so happens to be the former. She's just 'The Fan Favourite'
Anyways, back to Renamon. r34 of this vixen aside (several which I feel is rather OOC for her), I personally loved her character in Tamers. While she DOES get pretty angsty in the beginning (so does her Tamer Ruki/Rika) she eventually does warm up and become a loving and caring figure and doesn't constantly remain a pissing and moaning machine. And yes, JesuOtaku, an anime reviewer, pretty much sums up everything I feel about Renamon (and Rika) as characters in her character review here (minus the 'relationship' part- which I feel they are more like an older and younger sibling- with Renamon is the older sibling. Stupid crack pairing perverted people -_-):  blip.tv/jesuotaku/digimon-tame…
Plus her Champion for Kyuubimon, is the second 9 tailed fox I ever saw- and my personal favourite of her forms. Her Mega form, Sakuyamon, may have been more on the defensive side (casting protective spells and barriers) - but hey, RPGs NEED Mages/Clerics (I personally love mages and Clerics over knights). Oh and one more thing: She (and her Megaform Sakuyamon) are fun to play as in Rumble Arena. AND I love raising any member of the Renamon line in the DS game 'Digimon World Dusk'

3. Ninetales (Okami)
Now if there was ANY Ninetales in popular culture I'd take for a big favourite it would be this beast from my all time favourite videogame 'Okami' (sorry Naruto-Kyuubi fans)- as it is a reference to a famous legend of a treacherous Kitsune who uses her powers shapeshift into a beautiful woman to deceive the emperor so that she could take over. (thankfully a hunter was used to take her down in the end) Not to spoil anything, but this genderless Yokai has the ability to have a celestial brush of its own when you battle it. And for those who haven't played the game yet.....Well I don't want to say WHEN you fight this boss. ALL I can say is: its during the second arc of the game....on a demonic island.....

2. Robin Hood and Maid Marian (Disney's Robin Hood)
The stars of one of my top 10 Disney movies, These 2 are absolutely adorable together. Its a shame that Disney isn't taking note of this movies' somewhat popularity (then again, the official Princess movies always take the glory -_-) Robin is one smart and cunning fox who'd do ANYTHING to make sure the poor are safe from they tyranny of greedy Prince John (a power-hungry, yet wimpy lion). Maid Marian may not be the strongest Disney girl (ok she's no Miss Bianca from the Rescuers or Mulan or maybe even Lilo- all 3 whom I also like), but at least she somewhat part-takes in the fight at the archery contest (throwing a pie at one of the vultures) and is nice and kind without being  too sweet or 'sassy' and an 'in your face feminist'

And before I reveal my Number 1 fox, I would love to list my Honourable mentions:
-Todd and Vixey from Disney's 'THe Fox and the Hound'
-The Fox who the Little Prince tames from Antoine de Saint-Auxebury's 'The Little Prince'
-Keaton (Legend of Zelda Series)
-Corrine/Verius (Tales of Symphonia)
-Ferdie (the little Fox from my favourite old Casper skit 'There's Good Boo's Tonight)
-The Foxy Loxy from the ORIGINAL 1943 Chicken Little skit (one of the FEWER villians who actually WINS)
-Kon o Kami-sama/Big Cheese from 'Kyatto Ninden Teyandee/Samurai Pizza Cats (YES- the big Cheese was originally a FOX in the Japanese version.)

AAAAAAAAAND the Number 1 Fox is.....

1. ROALD DAHL's FANTASTIC MR FOX
Whether it be the 2009 stop motion movie OR the original book by Roald Dahl, this fox is one you can't help but love. He comes up with all those tatics to outwit those greedy farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean (one fat one short one lean LOL). and no matter how HARD they try (Digging away an ENTIRE Hill etc) Mr Fox ALWAYS finds a way to get around them- into their houses. And not only that, he is able to make a feast for his fellow animals and has his kids to help out with his schemes. And while the movie DID make some differences to the book, I still found his character an enjoyable experience. (its what I call the 'Matilda' case aka despite some changes done, I love the film adaptation as much as the book. This applies to 'The Witches and Matilda as well- both which I love)

And that sums up- my top 10 favourite fictional foxes

One of my favourite fictional foxes is Kitsunezuka Ko'on No Kami from Kyatto Ninden Teyandee. I love the characters wacky personality and his various quirks like dressing up as women and exploding when angry.

After reading the Robin Hood and Maid Marian comment about the princess movies taking the glory,I remembered this one Disney confession I read. She said after telling her Frozen obsessed friend that she thought Lilo and Stitch was a better sister movie than Frozen, her friend said that it doesn't count cause Lilo and Nani aren't princess, like WTH?More ignorance and stupidity provided by the Disney Princess fanbrats.

But what I also wanted to ask is do you happen to know Rita from the movie Jungledyret Hugo? It's a Danish film with three movies total and even an animated series.I watched it like a year and a half ago and actually really enjoyed it,especially since Rita is a very lovable character. It's better to watch the subbed version since the dubbed cuts out a lot of things, mostly language and three scenes they thought were not kid appropriate. They really weren't that bad, heck, one scene was just Rita spitting in displeasure. For some reason in America spitting at someone is deemed as great disrespect. But I highly recommend the films to you.

Proof that the Disney princess fanbase is perhaps the worst disney fanbase, even moreso than the lion king. Or even Disneytards in general who think the company can do no wrong. (Ooooh the unsavoury things Disney does to thier co-workers and artists behind our backs. Btw: did you know Pixar intended the draft ending to the original Monsters inc to be slightly different to the final product? It was because Michael Eisner, the tyrannical CEO at Disney at the time was in charge and put pressure on them to push his 'reptiles are eeeeeevil' ideology. That's why Pixar is giving that certain antagonist a bit more backstory in MU.
This same CEO in the 90s allowed kids to visit the disney studio and take photos with a director who was known to be a pedophile (yes the CEO knew the director was a pedo, and still allowed kids near him)

Ooh I really want to check out that movie now I love foreign animation.

To be honest, once Walt died,I think that's when the company went downhill.Cause what started as a strict business to bring life into shows for kids, became a cash cow and greedy organization.People always talk about how Walt was secretly a pedophile or Satanist, but to be honest, the real evil lies in the newer management and people in charge.-.-
(WTH?!What the heck!?Let me guess,he allowed to get money right?Or was it to hide any suspicious activity behind close doors? That just makes me sick. Now I'm starting to think allowing kids there isn't such a safe idea..)

The animation is pretty good too, including the artstyle.Though be warned, the third movie uses CGI and computer graphics instead of the hand drawn style. It's not bad,but at times they look like plastic toys,at least to me.It mostly bugs me cause it doesn't even look like fur, especially on their heads.

Yeah I heard about that.
(I dunno about why he let those kids in. But yeah, for kids the Disney co-operation is FAR from the happiest place on earth...not to mention at one time in Florida Disney park, they held a 'gay day' event, which they allowed gays to express themselves by groping each other in public in front of kids. Not to mention some people got injured on some rides cus they didn't use the money they earned to fix the rides.....)

Heheh- the Kohenkyo technique has saved me many times playing as her.

What's interesting is that in the original Japanese anime 'diamond storm was actually a certain Japanese word that translated to 'fox leaf arrowheads'

Foxes are so beautiful and interesting ^^That's a pity, that people, with whom You communicate have such ridiculous thoughts about You, liking so popular beautiful canines. Most of people like them, and, no any normal person will think that way. Don't pay attention for such ridiculous persons.

No its not me, its just some silly people online- especially on the Pokemon and Digimon forums.
I happen to like a lot of the fox-like pokemon and the popular Digimon Renamon (and her evolutions), but not for the 'sexy' reasons that some crazy people put them in. Its sad to think that just because you are a fan of foxes (fictional OR real), you are one of those crazy fans.

and yes, there are a lot of nice fox characters- villian or hero, anime and western.

thanks. I won't pay attention to such rude people.

Agreed. Lots of die-hard little mermaid (Disney) fans complain that 'the swan princess' stole their 'evil girl accidently marrying the prince' plot. When actually the real story/play of swan lake already HAD that plot of the prince accidently marrying Odile (the black swan) rather than Odette.
