Description Hephaestion, son of Amyntor

He was born around 356 BC in Pella and was the closest friend, general, personal bodyguard and lover of Alexander the Great.
According to Curtius, he was "by far the dearest of all the king's friends; he had been brought up with Alexander and shared all his secrets".
He died young in the winter of 324 BC after being ill with fever. Plutarch says that, being a young man and a soldier, Hephaestion had ignored medical advice...
