Description
For four years, I've DREAMED of having a legitimate deer faun costume. I started getting obsessed with the beauty and the aesthetic of those making extremely whimsical fauns on the internet. At the time, I was following the Lolita style very closely, and it started being a trend to use fawn patterend fabrics, make flower crowns, and use antlers. This led to my love of the "Mori Girl" or forest girl style, which incorporated MORE of the natural faun-esque qualities that I adored. This costume was taking the romantic and fantastical qualities of these Japanese fashions I adored and mix it with the mythical- a faun patterend after the White Stag of old Arthurian myth.
The clothes were collected from various locations and sources, but the rest was either made or styled by me- The wig I trimmed and set using hot water into a side braid, and incorporated flowers into it using wire. The flower crown was made with wire, flowers, and floral tape. The antlers were made with Crayola Model Magic clay and wire, painted with acrylics. The ears were felt, ostrich feathers and faux fur, bleach, pink ink, and white acrylics. They were put onto hair clips and flowers were glued on to hide the clip.
The HOOVES were the fun part- they were high heels with the heel sawn off, PVC pipe, a metal support, duct tape and E6000 glue, craft foam, acrylic paint, and faux fur. THose are white leggings that I pulled over them and then crafted using fake fur and padding in places where the muscles of a digitigrade are more distinct. Similarly, the arm warmers are socks, and faux fur.
Random organza ribbon and lace was incorporated throughout he whole thing.
I am likely going to write a blog post that goes into a little bit more detail! So look for that!
