I'm a bit restless today so I "stole" this lineart from the *ink-n-color club
I have a long way to go with airbrushing before I'm satisfied and I need to learn to do hair

The shading is very smooth indeed. Only crit is the lack of shadow in some areas such as the bag. Hair is nicely done and feels unique.

I agree with *AngelCrusher , the shadows need to be darker. How you color really depends on the style of lineart you're coloring. As this would be considered "Anime" you would do CG coloring. Which would mean no airbrushing, because you'd want the shadows to be sharp and dark. Also I find that highlights are actually extremely pointless. In the real world people aren't shiny and refract sunlight like mirrors. Highlights, if used at all, should be at a minimum. I mean look at =subeo 's art. She uses next to no highlights and her art is beautiful. Other than that I would say that you've done a pretty good job with this piece. The hair looks nice, though very different from the anime/manga. Also the skin tone chosen is quite good

The hair really looks great, and the shades particularly in the hoody are cool too. Maybe not dark enough in the jeans, and maybe a slight hint of highlight to add more depth aswell. But cool.
