Description This eagle flies back to D.C. with the Holy Grail of hockey... along with part of a Knights jersey.

(Yeah, it's fairly overdue; I did this a while ago -- closer to the Caps' Stanley Cup win -- but recently I've been too busy to post it.)

The picture -- a Wacom tablet/Photoshop piece -- is a continuation of this scene , in which the Mysticons' Emerald (the Mysticon Knight) takes on the bald eagle as the Stanley Cup Finals take shape. The eagle's possession of the cup (and part of Em's sweater) shows the tale's end; the ultimately five-game series culminated in -- among other things, such as Vegas's first taste of such an event (and thus their first opportunity to boo Gary Buttman Bettman) -- the Caps' first Stanley Cup win.

#ALLCAPS , indeed.

(Don't worry about Em's jersey -- I'm sure it will be fixed... as soon as the Mysticons track down the eagle, snatch back the piece, and put it back together with magic.)

Congratulations to the Washington Capitals on finally winning their first Stanley Cup in team history. It's nice to see the 44-year wait have a happy ending; the look on Ovechkin's face upon raising the cup for the first time is especially cathartic. A job well done; have some quality time with the cup and enjoy the offseason.

As well, congratulations to the Vegas Golden Knights on their immensely successful inaugural season; to even make it to the Finals in season one is an incredible feat. As the league's greatest commissioner said after Game 5 (as the boos and jeers heaps of praise rained down from the masses of fans at T-Mobile Arena), you and your fans have proven that Vegas is an NHL city. Keep your heads high; you have a long, amazing history to write ahead of you.

I would love to see has history is written for the Knights, and maybe in years to come Saskatchewan will get a team for the NHL as it would be quite fun to cheer for the team that is in my province of birth and to see the Leafs to win one would be awesome to see happen as I've been a Leafs fan all my life ( due to Saskatchewan not having a team)

Yeah; especially after what they've managed to do this past season, it would be cool to see the Knights continue to write their story.

As well, it would definitely be cool to see a Saskatchewan-based team eventually. I'm sure it would be great for the province, giving Saskatchewanians a local NHL team to support (along the lines of the CFL's Riders) -- in addition to giving every province from BC to Quebec at least one locally-based NHL club. (Now, if only Gary would be up to it...)

And I'm sure with guys like Matthews and Marner (and JT -- that's quite the deal), the Leafs can find their own success sometime soon.

From a Canucks fan (who hopes that this team can eventually turn around), keep your head up high.

Even though I am a Vegas fan; I honestly think that Ovi deserved after all his hard work in the league compared to the Penguins; I really hope that Vegas does win the Lord's Cup next year though, even though they are an atypical hockey market!

That's true; Ovi deserves the success after all of his work and contributions, and Washington definitely deserves to Cap off their season (oops... ) with the ultimate prize after 40+ years of coming up short.
But it would be cool to see Vegas get their own success sometime in the near future; after their historic inaugural run to the Finals it would be nice to see what else the Knights can do.

Washington's closed up a chapter in their history; it's the Knights' turn to write theirs.

Enjoy next season!

I'm so glad that FINALLY Ove has won the cup. I also wonder how Vegas will do in their second season. Will they be just as good, or will the sophomore slump hit them?

I agree; the look on Ovi's face upon winning the Stanley Cup for the first time was an incredibly cathartic, satisfying moment. It's a delight to see that after over 40 years, the Caps finally win it all.

As for the Knights, I think we'll just have to wait and see. 109 points and a trip to the Finals in an inaugural season, one where everyone saw them as the underdogs, could be tough to top -- especially since this success could result in additional exposure and pressure for Vegas next season. The other 30 teams are going to try even harder to battle against the Knights, so their abilities will really be tested.
