12th entry for Audre Schutte 2020's prompt for Mythic May

A heraldic-looking beast, the Peryton combines the characteristics of a large stag and a bird, supposedly being linked to Atlantis, as if they were the spirits of the ancient inhabitants of the fallen empire. Despite having the external appearance of a herbivore, the Peryton has a taste for human flesh, especially hearts, using its appearance and its human-shaped shadow, to deceive its victims.

I mixed elements of a rather generic deer - with the antler closest to an axis deer -, the tusks of a musk deer and the feathers of a pheasant, since the Peryton is described as colorful as a bird, and pheasants are very colorful. Totally inspired by ShadeofShinon version of this creature for the Mythic May as well.
