The story of this one is kinda funny

For my dear friend who I transformed into a Dwarf Barbarian, when I started to sketch the original drawing back in 2019 , he asked me to have a hippo mount. I love hippos and I think it fits so well for a dwarf, especially one who leads a freer life as a barbarian. There was no way to deny that request. I inspired the mount in an extinct species of hippopotamus, the Hexaprotodon, which had the upper incisors more apparent than in today's species - although the genus is often applied to the Pygmy Hippopotamus too, which still exists. That would be a "Dwarf Hippopotamus", so to speak.

The clothes of the two versions I tried to inspire a little in Celtic cultures - the Obelix-like pants kind of denounce that. I always try to bring things from other cultures a little out of the classic European medieval scenario, which is already diverse but sometimes also very restrictive, at least when we talk about inspirations for drawings, games or books. The Celts are still European, but they have a vibe more in Antiquity, along with the Romans and Persians, than with the Vikings from High Middle Ages, for example.

As this friend is the bartender of our already missed parties, I couldn't leave him without a bottle in his hand, in this case a bottle of a "homemade" vodka
