Description It was said that an old Bamboo Cutter found a baby girl in a stalk of bamboo. The girl grew into a beautiful woman. When the Bamboo Cutter died, the woman returned to the moon.

Yeah, that was a very short version of the Japanese folk tale, "The Bamboo Cutter and the Moon Maiden". It is my favorite one, so when I had to make two mini chairs, I had to make one for the Moon Maiden, or as I learned when I was growing up, the Bamboo Princess. Yes, I carved each notch to look like bamboo. Took me about four class periods to finish it. Even then I had to con one of my friends to help me out with some of the carving.

Uh, I totally didn't realize I never posted a picture of this chair until today. Oops... I did this back when I was a senior in high school. I'm now a junior in college....

If you were curious, the background is my actual headboard for my bed. I thought it would look nice instead of a plain black one.

The other chair I did for the project can be found here: [link]

Wow, nice legs for the chair. I wish it was life-sized. Great work.

Wah! Just thinking about making this life size is bringing up bad memories.... The legs was the hardest because of carving each notch....
