Seated one some bench a few feet away from the gate, leaning against the wall with his arms folded-the paladin took a moment to center himself; push back the uproar of the crowds seated above him...and the strange, blood-red light leaking ominously beneath the gate.

His mind was far away, relishing in the unexpectedly fond memories he'd picked up ever since he'd ventured through the capital's gates. These past few days behind Tunlio's walls had proven to be more than he could have hoped for-plenty of entertainment, more familiar faces than he could count...his mind's eye lingering on a certain misdreavus's face the longest-lips nearly curving into an involuntary smile...that stole across his face anyway when he remembered the fragmented ghost gem he'd taken to wearing beneath his armor.

Plenty of fond moments to hold onto as the kingdom's festivities drew to a close; only one more match left on his plate to tie it all together. Somehow that impulsive, months-old decision to sign up had led him all the way to the finals...in a clash over third place, of all things, though in all honesty Saul expected no less after that chaotic three-way bout from days before. Felt for himself the intensity of his friend's determination--and saw the convictions of a man driven vicariously by motivations the paladin couldn't admit to having.

The muted groan of the gates drawing open broke his musings, steadily bringing him back to the deafening cheers and shouts enveloping the present. Smirking dryly to himself as his large frame heaved upright, haunting light flooding the corridor a brilliant shade of red, he realized he was slightly more curious to see the man Ghaent would be paired against than he was in meeting his next opponent. The young gallade who'd undoubtedly fought just as hard and carved his own path to be here--

-But the gem pressed against his neck was a reminder that all this speculating could wait. The finale would come in due time---focus instead on the imposing figure sizing him up from across the stadium...and keep in mind who would be watching him today. A fond smirk at the thought of the duskull attending twisted into a wolfish grin as he stalked out to greet this "Sangst Veltiz" more properly-plowing through the reddened dust with drawn sword in hand.

Oh gosh this tournament's been both super tiring to keep up with and a major learning experience- asfghj I'm crazy excited to have even gotten this far in the first place...! Definitely need a small break from dynamic ppal arts tho ha ha and gosh I hope I didn't butcher your son too badly, Cat/// Certainly didn't do enough justice to Sangst's design;;! Buttload of mistakes aside there's not much else to say with this entry, except that Saul's bleeding a bit since I wanted to illustrate some sort of injury and he hasn't been hit that badly yet? Figured a blow to the head makes sense bc khgak son where is your helmet/falcon kicked to bed-
