Description A hero to someone, just without name...

-I just want someone to remember him so his sacrifice was not as meaningless as he thought...
-Critics are EXTRA welcome!!!!

Very nice,i see you went for the polaroid-ish picture  with the lighting and all.

I very like the dirt on it,the colours that matches the theme going for it,giving quite the mysterious vibe and very local like vibe too.

A couple of things you could have added is picture tears*1 and folding lines,to really show its a picture because the main subject here isnt the mysterious hero but the picture of a mysterious hero.

Another one would be,giving a proper Composition like a tiny bit of a finger that holds the picture, showing its someone holding the picture that could imply a relation.

The hero composition, this one is quite forgivable here because you need to place yourself in that environment, its on a concept artist level set on how a character would interact in his universe. In yours the hero is dead centred    where it means that someone took the picture facing him from the front from an equivalent height and quite up closes.Meaning that there is no way he wouldn't noticed been taken in that picture and unless he's willing pushing a sad face for a picture,on a composite level it doesn't make much sense or worst makes him look like a jerk when you think about.A way to negate that would either have him stare*2 or do something.

-here's a perfect composition of a damaged hero vibe and very similar to yours, you see him looking at the ground holding a child in his arms  with a tank and rubble in the background imposing the chaotic environment his in.

What I just said about the composition, dont take it too much to heart, like i said, its a skill far more important for professional concept artist then your avg artist nor do you have to completely neglect it either.... ... said the person who just draws character without a context at all.

Last thing for you, have an reference image to base from, the last thing you wanna do(not saying you did or didn't) is to draw from imagination and get bad habits and in general it'll help out in the end.If it mean you gotta trace the whole imagine the first couple of tries then do it,or say you are drawing an abstract anime character have a reference the more real the better.

And on the last bit,you are doing great and keep it up!The current drawing you did has quite a nice atmosphere to it with a bit of mystery, also don't think i didn't noticed the background with sword looking crosses and is that a zipper i see on him?

Thank you again!!!
For your kind criticism!
While I am no professional, I love getting better at art so your comment is rain to my land.
I should've placed him a little away, unable to notice the cameraman (the owner-kid).
I was thinking more about the kid finding the photo between his old book, so not many tears.
The war he participated in was not supposed to be too back in the time after all.
I'm glad my art is better than before!
Thank you again! for your kind words, I will be waiting for it earnestly!

Awe I'm sorry,

Thinking about it now I dont think my "criticism" was appropriated nor fair, going on into the composition wasn't necessary at all and I should have just stuck with the premise of the picture looking like a picture.

I believe it to be more damaging to been more productive,so kindly disregard what I mentioned about the "composition",it wasn't fair you aren't a professional neither am I and who am i for talking about composition where I barely do any or at all.

Just enjoy the overall process*,shit I even forgot to mention about how well you did the horizon and the clouds...

*:by it i mean, the time you spend drawing and not just the end result.

It is my belief that one should enjoy the time spend over the end result like enjoying the drive over then reaching his destination..

Don't be!!!
In fact, I love your "criticism" for it will be something that I could improve myself with.
I am not a professional as well but unlike you, I do not know of the "composition" so it is a learning process for me.
I appreciate you, so please don't hold your words.

*Thank you for the compliments on the background! I usually don't do them so I was rather worried about how they would look!

I just noticed that we are both canadien and I fell we could be stuck in the canadien apology circle where both sort of apologizing to each other to no end XD all hail canada.

bit of a cringe but yes were in canada"www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQBGmB… "

That aside,

The reason why I wanted you to forget its because it'll sort of come naturally over time  how you compose your drawing but if you so desire you can also google it and get multiple point of view about   "composition".

I suggest taking tips from a photographic point of view, add a bit of realism,a bit anime style and get yourself a ilya kuvshinov sort of.

In the end its not that mandatory and if you really wanted some tips or like a guide on the fundamentals there's a book called "drawing from the right side of the brain",you can find a pdf version on google for free,i have the book and in there's this:

"Five basic skills of drawing

The global skill of drawing a perceived object, person, landscape(something that you see "out there") requires only five basic com-ponent skills, no more. These skills are not drawing skills. Theyare perceptual skills, listed as follows:

One: the perception of edges

Two: the perception of spaces

Three: the perception of relationships

Four: the perception of lights and shadows

Five: the perception of the whole, or gestalt"

Its also have a ton of useful tips.

I did not realize you were Canadian as well... I guess that made sense with the budding cycle of eternal apologies.
Thank you so much for so many references to look into!
I'll be frank, I copied your whole comment on my notepad to go through them.
Certainly, would take time for me to go through all of them so nothing immediate.
I hope it will be more visible from my art from here on?
Thanks again for your help!
