I really like Hyrule's goddesses. From left to right: Nayru, Din, and Farore.Din, with her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land to create the earth.
Naryu poured her wisdom onto the earth to give the spirit of law to the world.
Farore's rich soul created all life forms that would uphold the law.
These aren't Earth goddesses. They're not aspects--not Maiden, Mother, and Crone; not Past, Present, and Future. They aren't members of a pantheon, goddesses of the usual stuff like Love or the Hearth or the Earth.
They are Power, Wisdom, and Courage. They are separate, individual, and equal in importance. And as with the Triforce, all three of them must be balanced in all things, or trouble awaits.
You say Din should be the goddess of War? What about the general's wise strategies, without which there is no victory? What of the courage of the rank and file, to keep fighting against all odds?
Which of them is the goddess of Love? Din, with her firey passion? Nayru, with her deep and gentle affection? Farore, with her gift of children, home, and family? Can you choose only one?
Every aspect of life in Hyrule can be seen as a balance--or imbalance--of those three forces. Without Wisdom, Power will turn to evil ends. Without Courage, Wisdom is only words.
Welcome to Hyrule. And may the Goddesses watch over you.

I'm actually writing a fanfiction where there's a fourth deity, a winter god. The three goddesses are the villains, along with the winter god. He was forgotten by the world, everything he'd done to help create it forgotten, and the race he created all but destroyed.

A lot of folks have expanded the Zelda cosmology for fanfiction in one way or another, yep. I usually play the canon fairly straight myself.

I like the silhouettes. This is a very visually interesting piece--I just wish it had nice, sharp, clean edges. A few color alterations or patterns might be nice, as well.
I really like it, I just think it can go farther.

The kludgy edges were really vexing me, too...I think I didn't do this in a high enough resolution to get the sharpeness I wanted. At the time, it was for a contest submission due that midnight, so I didn't have time to experiment. ;(

this is soooooooooo cool, I love the use of silhouettes, after doing a recent project on it in college, I have a lot of respect for anyone who can pull it of well..and you do!!! It reminds me of the charlies angels symbol too!!! xo

Yep, it's based on the Charlie's Angels thing! I was racking my brains on what I could possibly do to make the submission deadline when nothing I was drawing wanted to work, and Voila!

Well, the games sorta chose the colors for me, since those are the colors that the goddesses are pretty much always associated with--but I was surprised how quickly the drawing went! I think I might be getting the hang of this tablet thing at last!

Advice: Get the biggest one you can possibly afford. Those ittle bitty ones don't draw as precisely as a real pen, and it's quite annoying.
