Now here's an oldie one from 2011, particulary between June 22nd to July 1st.
With this I just wanted to put my Ruffy character and that-spoted-cat character in a usual american desert enviroment with a roadway on a side. So I've traced a good enough photo for this idea, which without noticing, it was a sideway photo of a Monument Valley US 163 in Utah (I can't find the exact same photo of it from google, which I've used for it years ago; so here's the closest one to show for a reference www.americansouthwest.net/utah… ).
Here on famous part of US, Ruffy and Cat, after a long on a desert, they're resting near down the road and hitch-hiking, hoping to get a lift to Cartoon Network Studios and pitching their idea for a show - My mistake, I confused the setting of the animation studio (Burbank, CA) with a TV headquarters. While at it, they enjoy some country songs for a playback guitar, in this case "Behind the Clouds" by Brad Praisley www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEnkfg… .
WHILE WE'RE AT IT! At the time I was making the drawing, it's been a 5th anniversary of Disney/Pixar's "Cars" and I was having a short nostalgic phase over that flick, which it was major inspiration to do all this. So much so, that I added Mater and Lighting McQueen riding on a road, seen from a distance; and to not make the left side too empty, I've added characters from two shorts from "What A Cartoon!" program, who in both of these, there also hitch-haking / stranded through this desert; particulary "HillBilly Blue" (co-written and directed by Butch Hartman) www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rs02k… and "Boid 'N' Woim" www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlHEpE… www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYfeTT… (in spanish with the original theme music).
