Doctorby Edward D Morrison
Doctor goes from town to town
Wide-brimmed hat and flowing gown,
Eyeing all within his path,
Through spectacles and bird-beak mask.
He moves with quiet, haunting grace,
down the path from place to place,
watching all within despair,
breathing not the toxic air.
Trailing smoke from censer sweet,
atop the staff that leads his feet,
He watches those be beneath the sun,
Learning all and curing none.

I think I like this more after I read your comment. I really thought it was a very ineffectual (...?) doctor at first, but it makes more sense after reading your note. Maybe you could incorporate that more into the poem? I don't know. o3o
