Trying to teach myself a bit more about coloring... this is a critter I thought up in math and started doodling everywhere. He's pretty.Cheesy name. XD
I cheated with a gradient bg again.. << >> I was gonna add some watery effects (and I intend to) but I'm kinda pleased with how he turned out so far... Wanted to share.
I'm still working on pertinent thingsm don't worry.
Attempt at perspective. Oh, and this my first real piece done entirely digitally. :3 from start to finish. Well... the eventual finish.

Whoa, that's amazing! I love the design, the anatomy and orca coloration go together perfectly. The body flows together so well! I tried doing a dolphindragon once, so I know how hard it can be to mix these two types of creatures togther. You did a much better job with it than I did! XD

Thanks! XD I like meshing critters sometimes--the challenge of making the mesh look natural is half the fun.
Now a dolphin WOULD be tougher... dolphins have a very distinct face shape, that if you changed it, it would lose dolphinyness... Hmm. *little gears in my head turn* That would be an interesting critter...

Lol, yep, mixing the two together without just tacking the parts of one creature onto the other is definately the fun part! Yea, as for the dolphin face shape, I thought that I mixed that and the typical dragon head shape together fairly well, but now when I look at it it looks stupid XD [link] Oh well, lol.

Oh, wow! XD Actually I think you did a really good job on that! I see both of the animals easily, but like you said in the description--not just bits of them slapped together. Excellent! It does not look stupid.

Pointers for you? From me? XD Wow, no, I think you're quite a bit better in that department. What I like to do though, is slap on a very dark base of whatever I'm working with and texture it with slightly lighter colors, getting a few steps away with each color. It works very well for fur and scales (I might do a tutorial on those >> ) but I don't do leather or smooth very often. I am a texture whore. XD

Oh oh oh pleeeeease do a tutorial. :<< I collect coloring tutorials and take from each what I think works the best.
I am teh suck at textures, especially hair--if its smooth I can do it, but naythign more and I'm totally lost. I would be all over a texture tutorial.
