That gargoyle sitting on the stone arch looks a lot like how I picture Bartimaeus from the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, when heΒ΄s in his gargoyle form...

This is one of the most beautiful works I have seen in a bit. You have perfectly captured the mystic and nature atmosphere with those lovely details.

Wow, it's comments like this that make all the hard working creating a painting worth it. Thank you!

This is a great piece of work! The morning mist seems to be creeping in through the ancient oaks and rocks of the Ruins, blanketing the mystical wonders it once beheld. A tinge of magic pulls at the nooks of what the roots don't cover. Creatures stare down at the ones who dare to pass below its hanging vines and strong arches. The secret it holds will remain a mystery for ages to come...

this is so impressive
i feel the early autumn morning in the forest, it's quite cold, there is the wet-forest-smell in the air. i look at the colors and the spiral and see that something old, mysterious and unknown to me is happening there and i am just little me of no importance.
than i suddenly notice that the closest green man is looking at me. i look at him and i see that all the others are looking at me as well. i am frightened at first but than i notice that (although they are not happy that i disturb that place) their eyes are not saying go away but they are expecting something

Another impressive piece of work. It looks as if it was an ancient temple of some kind. Those mystical faces and beautifully circling mist (if I'm right) makes it stand out from other fantasy works I have seen in a while. I think you've achieved your aim - it really looks as if the whole attention is on undesirable intruder.

Thank you! Yep it's circling mist, created .... possibly ..... by the figures on the walls.

Wow! I really like how the eyes of the first...dryad...catch yours. I love the dryad's designs, although maybe a little more smokiness, a little less precision with the lines of the spiral might give it a less manicured, intentionally designed feel. The background is done really, really well. I didn't notice the gargoyle/demon at first, but then it really fascinated me. Overall, great job! This is a fantastic piece.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Fair point about the 'manicured' spiral, it was a conscious decision to paint it like that but on reflection something more ragged might have been better. Glad you spotted the gargoyle but only after a while, that's how I hoped it would happen as the eye is led through the painting. Thanks again!
