No one ever knocks at my door. John?, but he wasn’t supposed to come ’til five. Maybe he got off early. Most of the packing was done, it’d be great to get into the new place. He opened the door.

What the..? He was eye to eye with that tall blonde. Cute but too thin and way too tall. She had to be nearly six foot. Who' date that... Was she Jessi’s friend?

“Riley?”

“No - Ava .. I need to come in and talk. It’s Jessi” she had an intense look about her.

‘God. That’s I need’ he thought. “I’m busy” the door started to close, but she leaned against it and got inside.

“Damn you! You drugged her and then you slut-shamed her! You made her lose her job and drop out of school.” she looked right into his eyes “Damn you!”

He’d been screamed at like this a dozen times. He went towards the door. “Get out of here while you still can.”

He put his hand on the door handle and turned. She was taking something out of her bag. She pointed it at him as the bag fell to the floor. A gun?

“Don’t shoot!” he screamed.

The flash blinded him and caused him to lose his balance. It felt like he was falling over.

“I’ll wait for your sight to come back and then we can talk” her voice sounded like it was coming from speakers at a concert. His eyes felt like he had been starring at a camera flash from a few inches. His pupils must be pin holes.

Gradually vision started to come back. The deep brown of the floor. He frantically felt all over his body and squinted at his hand to see if there was any bleeding. Nothing…

“Fuck you!” he yelled, the rage building “You’ll pay for this!”

“I think you’re saying something, but I can barely hear you” boomed her voice.

it must have damaged his ears too. He’d take her here. She had an inch or two on him, but he was way stronger. Plus it’d be her word against his. Probably a student or a flunky job like Jessi .. no match for a lawyer like him. He sat up and -

“Oh shit!”

“Good ‘looks like you can get up by yourself. Sometimes I have to help out” her voice boomed.

Where was he? it was the color of his floor, but bigger than a warehouse floor. A few hundred feet away some kind of brown building.. no windows. Shit.. it looked like a box. Like the one he had just packed. Like a three or four story building.

“‘ bet you’re wondering what happened” her voice wasn’t quite as loud this time. “You’re probably fine. See if you can walk.”

Getting to his feet he turned around and looked up towards a pink shoe about fifty feet away. A pink shoe bigger than a car. To its left was something rounded and glowing green. And to the right past the shoe was another shoe.. He started looking up from the shoes.

“Hi down there” the voice came

His knees felt weak.

“God!”

“no.. just Ava. I’m like a hundred and fifty one feet tall to you now.. But more about that later. We’ve gotta leave now.”

She watched as he started running. Most of ‘em do. It used to be fun to play hide and seek -until that one got away. Joel- yeah that was his name. She still felt guilty about that. Maybe he managed to figure out how to survive. At least that’s what she told herself. She let this one run a bit. He had no idea how slow he was now. She set the gun down and took a step.

The floor shook under him. Then a second or two later a shadow and a swirling wind fell upon him. He spun to the right to avoid her, but tripped and started falling. The next thing he knew he was pinned between her huge fingers and rising at a dizzying rate.

She kept wondering if she should’ve originally used a larger setting twice this size would be easier to pick up and still manageable - but she wanted them all the same scale. This one was a freebie for her friend - usually there’s a bounty.

“Let’s see.. she said your name’s Kevin, right?”
