Meanwhile in a residential area a mile from the motel…

“Да ладно!”

Adam had no idea what she said, but he was knocked backwards and to the left by the sudden acceleration.

“Hey, be more careful up there!” Irina didn’t hear him. The zipper was pulled shut and she was tuned out of the world considering how bizarre this was. He prepared himself as the swinging stopped and he heard her open the old Toyota’s door. She put the bag on the passenger’s seat and prepared for the bit of gymnastics of folding herself into a car that was a little too small for her frame.

Adam was just standing again when the sudden acceleration threw him to the side. The bag unzipped and he looked straight up to see a huge face looking at him.

“I can’t believe this. You have to tell me if you want to go back or I should find the authorities.”

What? He wasn’t expecting that. “Wha’daya mean?”

“Are you a prisoner? Did someone do this to you?”

“No. I was on a date with Niki. I thought you knew her.”

“I do.” The huge woman said. “I think she’s trying to be an actress. She hangs with some of us. That’s how we both know Haley. Wait .. you’re not part of what happened to Haley are you?”

“In a way. It’s a long story. But I didn’t have anything to do with it. Just drive. You’ll get the full story then..”

“Да ладно!” She moved the bag back to the seat, this time wasn’t as bad, and they were off.

Irina saw Niki rushing towards her as she pulled into the lot.

“You, you.. ran off with my bag!” She held out Irina’s bag “Here’s your’s”

Irina awkwardly slid out of her car. “I have questions..”

“You, you didn’t open the bag?”

“There’s a little mouse. He said we can talk.”

Niki held up the bag she had been carrying. “Here .. just give me my bag and I’ll do that.”

Irina reached back in and brought out Niki’s bag.

“Let’s go back to the motel.”

“How about my Airbandb? It’s probably a lot better.”

“We’ll follow. I’m in that old truck.”

Niki set her bag on the coffee table. “ ‘ ’you ok Adam?”

“Two women? What could possibly go wrong?” He was still in the bag, but standing on a box he could get his head over the opening.

“Dreamer” Niki muttered..

“You owe me an explanation Niki.. I came here to help Haley and now this” she was pointing to the bag

“Alright, but you shouldn’t have opened my bag.”

“ … a mistake. They are very close.”

“I need to call someone else. Tell me your address..”

Adam watched and listened for over an hour as the two women talked until Sigi arrived.

Irina opened the door. Sigrún looked in and made eye contact with Niki. Shows pissed.

“Damnit Niki! Can’t you be more careful!”

Irina put herself between the two women. “Look” said said looking down at Sigrún “I know her and joined her at the restaurant. I accidentally took her bag, but came back. It’’s no one’s fault.”

Adam pulled himself up to the zipper and was trying to lower himself to the coffee table. Irina noticed and pointed.

“Look! Adam’s climbing out onto the table.

They turned towards him.

“I need a say in this too. Sigs - we both needed a break. I feel like a prisoner - no, like a lab animal sometimes. Niki and I were having a good second date. You don’t know what it’s like to finally date another interesting woman - to even seen another woman.”

“You must have been through hell.” Irina had been listening to what had happened. “Maybe the guy should ask, but I’d like a date too.. Adam?”

Sigrún started “... so many issues…” Adam stepped in. “I know all of those. Sure. I’d love to go on a date with you Irina. Tomorrow night?”

She sighed “OK you three. Work out what you’re going to do. I got work to do with Haley. Call if there are problems. Adam, if you want to sleep over with someone just let me know by ten.”
