John texted that he was on the high speed train. That meant about fifteen minutes to town and then whatever it takes to get on the local line to where they'd meet. She put the hand pumice stone away and dried her hands as she checked her makeup. Nice - but a bit toned down from last Tuesday; The hoop earrings were enormous, but somehow went with the little dress. It was a little over the top for a first date, but Shaniqua had it and it still fit perfectly. Everything else in her closet was too casual and at six-one finding something cute that fit in the last week would have been close to impossible. The heel weren’t a great match, but they made her feel sexy and happened to be the only pair she had that would walk the half mile or so to the train stop and back. They were probably taller than him. He'd just have to put up with hot she thought with a smirk as she grabbed her purse and keys.

Her town wasn’t large by any standard, but it had a rapid transit system with three lines and a high speed rail link to a regional system that connected to airlines. She couldn’t use it - after all, she was much larger than any of the railcars. Dirt cheap as infrastructure goes, these were for the Kleinste to efficiently and safely get around in integrated communities. They were considered part of the town’s road budget rather than mass transit, so travel within the city was free.

The lines were easy to spot. Little color coded transparent tubes that ran on the sidewalks. Red ran East and West on Central. Green was mostly at an angle in the rectangular shaped town and blue was a perimeter line that made the regional connections. There was a network of little covered walkways and bicycle paths that spread through the business area and into the Kleinste residential areas. Covered roads were less common, but the city had a master plan to install twenty miles worth and two new lines in the next two years.

Shhe saw a car shake a bit going over the concrete crossing the protected the lines. The station was just around the corner She picked this one not only because it was walking distance for her, but there was a waiting area for people like her to pick up Kleinste commuters.

The Red Line was the first in town and was built with cute little replica train stations. Some Klienste was gathering for the train. She scanned the people on both sides of the red tube, but no John. It was still early. She caught the eye of a guy in a red shirt. Maybe he liked the dress. The cover was off the station so she called over to him.

“How long ’till the next train?”

She watched as he glanced at his wrist. There must have been a watch there, but she couldn't see it at this distance.

“About seven minutes if it’s on time.” He turned from her and continued walking.

That wasn’t too bad. She knew it was impolite to watch them. It was ok to people watch someone of your own size but watching those much larger or smaller was childish. Too bad. She sighed and scanned the part of the city that was her scale as she waited while a few dozen people queued up for the train that would come down the little red tube.
