Description Death Battle (Hunter x Hunter/Kemono Jihen)

Core Theme (credits to BlackPen):

Mentally disturbed young Shonen protagonists who were left behind by their parents since birth and were raised by their aunts and nature, who would meet a certain wandering men who would change their world forever when being told that their parents are out there somewhere, and made it their dream and goal to find them by anything necessary, with them putting their body and lives in risk to a suicidal degree, while gaining friends and allies along the way.

Full Connections (also credits to BlackPen):

Both are Shonen kids who were born and raised on a lonely island all by themselves and by their aunts (Mito and Kusaka), till one fateful day, would they adventure on their own with a new found group of friends. Also, in the start of their journeys and the start of the pursue of their parents was caused by an adult licensed wandering man, who they see as a idol who gave them a sense of light and a dream that they can work towards for. (Inugami and Kite)

Despite their somewhat one layered personalities, because of their neglectful upbringing, both have difficulties identifying and expressing emotions experienced by themselves or others. They are blunt in their responses and can be naïve — this includes taking things at face value and not questioning the truth in other people's words.

Both initially take up traditional Shonen roles as they go about their adventures, a fact that can be seen in their clear wide-eyed immaturity and innocence. As their story continues, the at-times harsh realities surrounding their world begin to set-in and they are forced to grapple with their own insecurities, with said insecurities mainly lying in their own weakness and fear of their inability to protect/support their allies. These insecurities foster part of their deep desire to continue becoming stronger. A notable character flaw for both is their tempers and stubborn nature. They can make incredibly rash decisions if the situation allows it.

Both pursue a career in a licensed freelancer occupation (Detective and Hunter), that they initially want to join thanks to their pursuit of their parents. This relationship is a notable part of each's character and motivations, with this figures abandonment of them cultivating their fiery desire to become useful as well as the toxic lack of self worth that necessitates this drive.

On the topic about their families, since both were left alone by their parents, for all their live have they asked themselves why? They did they left them? For what reason? What was so great that they actively left behind their own flesh and blood behind? That question has plagued them for all their lives, which motives them to go further on the adventure to reach their dream, which is finally meet and learn about who their parents are, where they are and why they were left behind in the first place.

They fight alongside groups made up of superhumans (The Hunters/Gon’s friend group and Kemono Office agency)

They care for their friends and strives to protect them and, when in battle, do not consider their own well-being, seeking only to stop the enemy from hurting them or their friends in whatever way possible. Despite the coolness of their exterior, the bluntness of their personalities, and their ferocity when fighting, they both are extremely noted for being empathic and gentle. Which is seen with their relationships with animals and nature as a whole.

Their friend groups are similar, we have the sleazy but yet charming grown men on the party with a heart of gold (Leorio and Inugami), a very feminine young men who is the last of their clan, and has big family issues alongside having a special power being inherited in them (Kurapika and Akira), a rough, brutish yet insecure boy with a bad family history on their name (Killua and Shiki), they also have a friend who is to an degree obsessed with them, wanting to be recognized and seen by them due of being the the first friend that was not a family member to see them as another person and not as a tool to be groomed into murdering and killing, who have contrasting animal motifs (Fox and Cat) who which names start with a K (Killua again and Kon), they also have a companion that has a crush on them to the obsessive and creepy degree (Palm and Kon again)

They both have almost one to one fighting styles with close quarters combat and hand to hand being their bread and butter. They are also known for their immense inherently and trained superhuman strength and endurance.

Like many within their worlds, they are capable of utilizing a spiritual energy (Nen and Ghoul‘s flame). Prodigies in it's fine control, they can enhance their physical abilities by allocating a bunch of this energy into a specific body part (Kabane using his flames to regenerate to creative uses and using his instincts running through his blood, and Gon using Gyo). They are also noted to have impeccable observational skills, even in comparison to many of their peers.

Despite the fact that both just seem like average children, both are actually superhuman due of their inherited talents, gifted from their families, as they grew up with extraordinary abilities and aren’t really like normal humans at all (Gon being genuinely a superhuman and the potential for Nen and Kabana being a half-Khoular, half-human, a Kemono to be frank).

They are also lady magnets, like, their oblivious nature and very kind yet blunt way of speaking and actions make up for immense Rizz.

Despite their seemingly brave acts and heroic, selfless wills, both are also suicidal to a degree, or to be more frank, don’t care much about their lives or what could happen to them, the only thing that matters in their ways is pursuing towards their dreams and to keep on protecting their friends.

On the topic of love and death, when questioned about this virtue, they explain that they identify with the desire of all living things to live and considers themselves and them to be in "the same boat." Therefore, they mostly avoids killing whenever possible, even as they doesn't hesitate to take life in self-defense or the defense of others.

They also trained under very unusual old people (Biscuit looking like a young girl despite being a grown tall woman because of her Nen and Tasaburou being constantly a Tanuki instead of his human disguise like anyone else) which one of their training resentment was them just digging up dirt.

Both of their series‘s major villain is a non human entity (Chimera Ant and Kitsune), a carnivorous being with a army in their sight, who wants to take over the world/country/island that they were in and have a immensely big hatred towards humanity (Meruem and Inabi), and one of their servants (Pitou and Nobimaru) would kill or seemingly have killed one of the main character‘s friends, which also made them almost lose it and give in pure rage, like an berserk state, but it is later revealed that they are actually alright (Kon was still able to be saved from her injure and Kite was reincarnated as a Chimera Ant (Though to note: Inabi also manipulated a young little girl (Kon) within her grasp, while Meruem grown and changed as a person because of a young little girl (Komugi))

Kabane describes the hope that Inugami gave him as a "light“, something that he will not go by any means, a thin thread to be held on living, something that makes life worth living for him, while Gon was described by Killua to be a "light“ that keeps others, but more specifically himself, a sense of hope and sincerity that makes the people around him bring the best in them.

Both series also have just the same general vibe and tone, seemingly normal Shonen manga about kids who on throughout the world, with really sweet themes about trust, friendship, always working hard and very sweet moments between the characters mixed in, while also being very realistic, mature and even having dark themes like dealing with trauma such as having to cope about being raised alone without parents, having a lack of social skills affecting your mental state and life, and various other adult topics unusual for a seemingly normal looking Shonen series.
