I remember someone asking me if the only kind of anthros I can draw are wolves. Well, here is my first Anthropomorphic Elk. Oddly enough the legs were the hardest part. Just finished this today, took around 6hrs. I decided to choose an elk, since they're so much different than wolves and I wanted to try something different. I think it turned out great. Great work! I too have struggled with digitagrade legs, but when I study ones likes yours I learn a lot. I think the thicker legs are more realistic, in supporting a being like him. Even though quad deer have thinner legs. Good work1

Wow... this one's a bit of a rarity... indeed, ungulates I find are the hardest to anthromorphisize cause of those darn legs.... I like this a lot though... it proves it can be done perfectly if you're careful. I commend your very detailed way of working... there's a nice realism that I can't achieve myself. Must come from all those years as a painter. I'm very, very impressed! Great work.

Thanks alot. Arg, the legs. I decided to make the legs a little thicker than the others I've seen, I figured they would need to be thick on order to support the body in an upright position and provide larger hoofs for balance. I can't help but put alot of details in my works, like you said all those years as a painter, Thanks again.

Hmm-mm. Great rule of thumb there... I only tend to make anthro legs a little thicker than normal since that upper body would need a lot of supporting. Some make their anthros hunched slightly, so the tail acts as a counterweight but all the same, thicker-legged anthros seem to be the order of the day now. At any rate, that's a great art direction you got there. Thanksee!
