Description DESCRIPTION
The making of the Starwars X-wing started as a little project during a seminar about Vray. After some practicing with Vray, the idea was to finish the seminar with a rendered image. Because there was no time completing the whole model of the X-wing within the seminar-week itself, I decided to finish the model afterwards.

An old animation of it you can find here

(The animation is rendered with MentalRay instead of Vray)

This thing looked so real my dumb ass rejected in my group so I gotta give props where they're due. Great Job!!! I have never been so completely fooled by a CGI.

okay I looked this over and while it is a cool model I don't believe it meets our CGI (computer generated image) requirement. to clarify: the image must be CREATED by a computer NOT edited by one. Thanks so much for your submission

I dont understand it fully. Let me explane
The image is created with maya and the composite is done with Photoshop. So created by a computer.
If you think the image is not 'creative' enough, I can understand that.. Is that what you mean?

Really? that's maya? dude I thought it was made by leggo...that puts you up there with some of the best. I honestly thought it was a photograph. Resend that muther and I'll happily put it in holy crap that thing looks real.

When i saw this in the lego club, i said
"Hey, nice photography" to myself
I thought you were lying when you said it was a 3D model. It looks waaaay too real.

Thanks! I think my goal to make it as realistic as possible is achieved

I add some wireframes of it in the comment if you are interested.

I noticed, and that's quite literally the only thing that pulled me off of thinking that this was a photograph.

this is very, very, very good. I'll be honest, I thought is was a photo until I looked at the wireframes, still can't see anything that would tell me its a render.

Excellent, this is the view I prefer, the depth of field is just "right" here, maybe in the closer shots it's a little too blurred, but I love the way the nose cone is out of focus
