i hope you have read the books in the time that this was posted and this comment

Well, Burroughs greatest hit was Tarzan , no doubt.
I honestly did not know about the John Carter adventures until a little time ago. Well, I live in Brazil , so I am excused , right ?
But Tarzan I know since I was a child.

no i didnt know john carte exsisted until very recenly either

it has always exsisted somewhat below the notice of mainstream

but eveything that makes it mainstream seems to have some form of influence ground in the books

strange how that works

Yes, and if the books get a good movie thereafter ,the story is immortal. Like Tarzan. many many movies ...
I heard that the John Carter , Dejah Thoris will at last come to us also on the screens !!! Yay!!
Better late than never ....haha

and everyone who is stupid will call it an avatar ripoff

for having fifteen foot tall aliens, multiplimbed animals, and you know everything else james cameron stole from the book

there is such thing as inspiration, and paying homage

and then there is gluing together everything and making an unoirignal piece of crap

stupid avatar, you couldnt even come up with your own name, you had to steal one from a popular childrens franchise (perhaps for the better considring the lack of effort in its own live action adaption)

rvbhal In reply to Ralokone [2010-10-27 11:29:18 +0000 UTC]

Now that you mentioned it
there are really similarities between avatar and Burroughs books... Never thought of that . Did Cameron really get influenced (to be sutil, ) by John CarterΒ΄s stories ?

she has to suckle her babies, like a mammal
