Of all the obviously different flags on this image, that's the one you notice?

Lol, no.
I decided to clarify, but you do not know whose it is a flag.

I'm well aware that it's the flag of Nationalist Spain. The Franco regime did not fall in this timeline.

Really like the Australian flag you came up with - based on the Eureka Stockade banner?

It... IS the Eureka Stockade flag... Not really 'based on'.

The Labor Party has promised to hold a referendum if they win government in 2019.

Oh, are there still people arguing for the President to be elected by Parliament instead of the public?, I was stuck in the middle of my constitutional law term when your last referendum went on and found it interesting.

Wonder if they'll scrap the Commonwealth constitution and introduce a new one ~ here they just introduced one very very short bill The Republic of Ireland Act 1948 and that was all they really did.

Australians are, understandably, quite fond of their Constitution, it's worked for over a century after all, and most people would be averse to ditching the Constitution in favour of making a new one.

But yes, the question of how the President ought to be elected is still a major concern. It is often seen as critical that the President not be a domineering figure in government, as they are in America. So there is also a question about what powers the President ought to actually have. Personally, I'm in favour of having the president assuming the role of the Governor-General, whilst being appointed by public election. Though this would involve more precisely defining what the Governor-General / Presidential powers actually are.

Yeah, we had similar problems to answer when the old Saorstat Eireann/Irish Free State constitution was scrapped and replaced with the 1937 we still use.  Like Australia, Canada and New Zealand etc. Ireland had a more parliamentary "British" style of govt.  There was a suspicion of granting too much power in the hands of one guy...some of the I.R.A. had made genuinely anti-democratic comments, as an example Rory O'Connor seemed to consider the possibility of a military dictatorship.

We had traditions that were unlike the U.S. so a Yank style executive president wouldn't necessarily be the first option, also giving one man or a group too much authority was considered a dubious idea ~ people were bright enough to notice the example of Il Duce in Italy and that Austrian short-arse stirring problems in Germany.

Our President has limited powers, mostly stuff like making sure the Armed Forces answer lawfully to an elected civilian and he has powers to protect Civil Liberties, also if a matter is deemed to be of a truly serious nature he can put it directly to the nation as a referendum.

His authority to refer bills to the Supreme Court also gives him the potential to keep manners on the politicians of the day, if the State was like a Lorry then he's the bloke with his hand on the safety brake.

i can't spak about the others but the german flag doesn't look like that anymore... maybe 80 years ago but not today.
It is black, red and gold.
Or am I getting this wrong?

This is an alternate history scenario, where Nazi Germany lives on. Notice that the Soviet Union still exists in this world.

The premise is WWII being stalemated by occult warfare, so they're still around. They've mellowed out since then.

If I can comment on this pict is that I wish Malaya is given a cool flag like North Borneo..

So the Sov & the Nazi aren't so dictatorial as our OTL ?
