Judging from your brief RP with Yarrix, Funeral Dirge has a horde but his horde is a graveyard?
π: 0 β©: 1
RykuBloodwing In reply to Argus456 [2015-01-12 15:57:30 +0000 UTC]
well grave lurkers find graveyard endearing and well its homey to them. the main part of his horde is back in his country guarded by his dragon patron who happens to be his mother but he has his own guarded horde in his lair which is in a secret location not in a graveyard he thinks he needs to find minions and such before taking over a graveyard which to him is like moving from an apartment into a house.

So Dirge is trying to figure out how to satisfy his draconic instincts? Since his mother is a dragon, I take it that his father is a pony? Also, is he the first and only one of his kind or are the other dracosteeds around?
π: 0 β©: 1
RykuBloodwing In reply to Argus456 [2015-01-12 16:07:28 +0000 UTC]
there an entire society of them ruled over by the elder council. draco steeds when born have minimual draconic traits. some just become civilians of the nation never fostering there heritage and just have bare min draco traits. those who wish to foster there draconic heritage can choose the path of the dracologist, dracomancer or dragoon/dragon knight.
π: 0 β©: 1
Argus456 In reply to RykuBloodwing [2015-01-12 16:13:22 +0000 UTC]
And what do each of these 'professions' if I may call them that, entail?
π: 0 β©: 1
RykuBloodwing In reply to Argus456 [2015-01-12 16:21:25 +0000 UTC]
Dracologists step into whats called a genesis pool. it makes them a tad more draconic then the rest there brothern, as the dracologist grows in power dictacted by there age,how many fights they have won and the size of there horde they develope more and more draconic traits, including but not limited to the draconic breath weapon, wings, claws, tail, and various other traits among the 3 at apex these types basically become full fledged dragons.
dracomancers are unique in that weather winged or not these dracosteeds can perform magic due to there draconic linage and from the get go develop a special ability which can normally only be learned by elder wyrms. polymorph, this allows them to take on temporary traits of the dragons but only last so long. at extremely high powers levels the dracomancer can even fully take the shape of a dragon temporarily. unlike there dracologist brothers who permanently become a dragon in a way the effects of a dracomancer are temporary but they can also learn to take on the traits and shapes of many different dragons.
Dragon knights/dragoons have a unique place in society the first step in becoming a dragoon is impressing a dragon patron to point they like you and allow you to enter a dragon nest.upon entering the nest you will find an egg that resonates with you and you will link your soul to the egg which generally but not always hatches on the spot into a wyrmling. you and the wyrmling are linked from there out partners for the rest of each others lives. legends speak of slight draconic armored looknig ponies riding full grown dragons into battle

So Funeral Dirge didn't look like what he does now originally? Also from your earlier explanation and brief RP, Dirge seems to have traits from all three paths.
π: 0 β©: 1
Argus456 In reply to RykuBloodwing [2015-01-13 07:27:57 +0000 UTC]
From the way you described Dirge's abilities, from the Dracologists trait is his draconic traits like draconic appearance that's quite pronounced and he also has abilities like the acid breath he used to dissolve the grave robber/necromancer but I suppose that all dracosteeds have some form of breath attacks or other.
Dracomancer is already in his description so I don't think I'll need to say anything on that. Though aside from temporarily taking on the form of full sized dragons, what other abilities does Dirge have that's unique to him?
And as you also mention,ed, his mother is his dragon patron so it stands to reason that he potentially has the chance to bond with a wyrmling should she allow her son to do so, though the bond between siblings would be stronger than normal bonds.

RykuBloodwing In reply to Argus456 [2015-01-13 07:47:03 +0000 UTC]
Well all 3 types pull from the power source dracomancy. but there is a difference between dracomancy and dracomancer. Just as there is a difference between necromancy and necromancer. its a power source for all 3 of the types. Because dirge has started down his path as a dracologist though he doesn't have access to make a bond, or to learn the polymorphing skills of a dracomancer unless he becomes a powerful enough dragon to learn polymorph but it will still never be like a dracomancers.
Each draco steed has potential to be very unquie. for dracologists they are a mix of two things a dragon shaman www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Dragon_S⦠and a living eidolon www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-⦠still working on the exact mesh. But right now dirge among steeds around his age has one the most versitle breath weapons but thats due to time and investment. He can breath under water due to a spell like ability gained from his hue type, he can temporarily turn his body into fog another inherite trait from his heritage. The ability that truly differs him from his hue type is his apider climb ability which he uses to walk on ceilings and such

his dragon variet are called grave lurkers. breath weapon of acid not fire. can do stuff like blending into shadows and even temp becoming fog. in his society his type of dragon handle funeral arrangments and also handle carrion feeder duties if nessacery though he hates doing that.

To put this together: He is a Undertaker and Gravekeeper with really bad halitosis^^
I can already see a story in my head:
I'm on a job to find a grave robber with a nice bounty (25,000 Bits) who seems on the way to a Dragon Graveyard. There I meet you and tell you about this guy. You say you will handle it yourself and don't need my help (something about "wants to be a hero" or so...). But the grave robber is more as just a thief.
He is a Unicorn Necromancer and looking for more "raw material" for his "reasearch". You find him as he tries to open a Grave and attacks him. But he could avoid your attack and used his magic for a counter. You fight and was able to corner him with your Acid Fog (I just think you are able to do something like this).
What didn't expected was, he reanimate a corpse of one of the Dragons and Attacks you from behind.
You are pretty exhausted from your fight before and can barely espace the Attacks from the Reanimated Dragon.
Then, as the Dragon was about to finish you, I fall from the sky with high speed, standing on the blade of my "Guillotine Lance" and landing at the neck of the Necromancer.
His misfortune was, the Wanted poster said "DEAD or Alive".
Well... my luck I just need the head to carry with me then.
Would be my idea. Maybe you have another idea^^

Pretty bad ass set up but then ghost hooves is going to have to fight for that head because dirge is gonna claim that kill and even injured he would be more then willing to fight for what he believes is his. A dragons battlefield belongs to them and as a grave lurker anything in a graveyard belongs to him even the recently deceased. So ghost hooves would need to make the choice, to try and fend off a pissed off but wounded dracosteed, try to out run it or give up his bounty to the beast.

Ghost Hooves looks Funeral Dirge in the eyes. No one makes a move, and Ghost could feel, this one had still alot of energy left to make a good fight.
Ghost Hooves: *sigh* "Then I have no other choice."
*throws the head to you*
Funeral Dirge: "What are you doing?"
Ghost Hooves: "Since you fighted him longer then me, I accept your claim on the head."
Funeral Dirge: "So, you acknowledge I'm stronger then you?"
Ghost Hooves: "No. I'm just to lazy to fight you now."
With this said, turned Ghost Hooves around and leaves the Dragon Graveyard.

"Bring me half the coin and i keep what ever he had on his person." the steed said. "i am not such a fool as to pass up coin and one of your ilk would not have stepped in if it was not for a good amount of coin i suspect." the steed says out loud hoping the mercenary was still in listening range. But if not he does not fretΒ the enemy dead his graveyard tended to and now he has more bodies to add to his acid pit.

Ghost Hooves stops in his tracks and tunrs his head around, so he looks with one eye to the Gravekeeper.
GH: "If you wish. I'm not a "good guy" who just rejects Bits when he get the chance. I do what I want to do."
Question: Is english not your native language?

Dirge stretches, "I am not some good guy either i am the great dracosteed, and if it will fill my hoard who cares if someone or something gets harmed." the steed chuckles.

GH: *smiles under his mask* "I like the way you think. Maybe we will see us again when you get a bounty yourself. But for now, let us take this idiot head to the next guard post to get his Bounty."
Answer: Alright. Your last comment was a bit hard to understand. That's why I asked.

The dracosteed impales the body with his tail shaking loose any trinkets to gather. when he has acquired what he wanted he lets forth a spray of acid to melt the body down. With a happy little trot he follows the mercenary.
