Description EDIT : If you can't see the current pic in the dev here, full view. There is a message on it.

EDIT AGAIN : Some may find my style is a bit, say, too harsh or thick. Well it's not really much of a big deal to me if you didn't try it out ;3 this is just for those who WANTS to try something a bit of a different style.

NOTE : THIS IS JUST TO GIVE YOU THE MAIN IDEA OF HOW TO DO IT, SO PLEASE STOP SAYING THE GRASS IS ON THE WRONG SIDE, I AM FULLY AWARE OF IT AND IT'S UP TO YOU TO DO IT RIGHT. I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO DO EXACTLY AS I DO,NO? :3

Eh what? Did i hear it right, you say? That Ryo, who have an immense hatred towards doing grass and yet have a habit of doing it despite of hating it, is teaching how to do grass on slopes?

You heard that right folks lol. I dunno, i'm kind of a person who never seems to see the filter grass brush doesn't have that much of an impact on doing grass. I mean, it's not really effective. For me. And when i played around with the photoshop last night, i found another way to do so. And much more effective for me. So here i am being nice again to teach you on that (to those who already knew the way before i do, well, congrats. You may now leave the premises and let the newbies learn, shall we?). There is a lot of smudge-tool using involve, but lesser layers. On grass anyways. So move on~ As usual, click on the links to see the tutorials.

To those who still don't know how to do skies and clouds....

Once done, proceed here.

As usual i will explain things here. I've learned from another grass tutorial that a grass doesn't have to be,well.. green. It can be a combination of green, like dark brownish to cream. It doesn't have to be green at all. You can see it by inside the tutorial.

When you've done the base, with a normal propertied brush, dab around with slightly dark green. Doesn't have to be accurate, just dab it around. Then use the smudge tool and pick the brush that has a jagged look to it, like the ones you see. You will be using that. Now smudge it around the area you've just smack dab with dark green. Don't smudge it in circular motion, no. Smudge it in a slightly upward position. You should be getting the result as shown. Or at least something that resembles it.

Do the same thing on the same layer with different colors of green this time on different areas. And then do the same smudging job. After a few round of turns, you'll get something like shown. Looking good huh? Move on. It's not done. Now get the brush, and pick the grass shaped brush. The one strand grass type, not the three-branched. Adjust the size, pick a slightly darker tone of green AND cream green in the color box section (eh forgot the name of that lol, but you should see it). Do a new layer this time, on top of the base's layer since you can re-do it if you screw it, and lightly stroke the brush on the bottom half of the slope like so. They will represent as the grass from close up view. Being both cream and darkish green colored, the grass is in a meadow-kind of color, which is the right thing.

The important thing here is to repeat step. That is all. You can also use the jagged smudge brush to do that lil grass effect on the edge of the slope, like as you see there. ;3 Neat huh? Now once done all and you're practically satisfied, merge it into one whole layer. Now, get the brush again, use the blur-edged brush, toggle on the airbrush mode and slightly spray on a light green on the grass base (with the brush in multiple properties). Your grass will look great ;3 Just go ahead and add things like a person, or flying grass or whatever, and you'll have one picture perfect picture. Lol i'm currently high on Gundam Seed so it's natural to see me putting Lacus Clyne in there.

Anyways, go and try it out. I'll edit this comment up when i need to add something or etc.

I still think this is a wonderful thing you are doing for the DA community. A lot of people dont have the time to figure out how to use new software, so this is a great way of training without the hard work Anyways, i got to go now, the kids i babysit for are getting restless.

Um.....the grass in the foreground is facing the other way from the one that you drew, maybe since you draw it on the other layer you should do the grass on the other corner then flip?

that, is just an example ;3 i don't expect people to do EXACTLY like what i do. i'm just giving out the MAIN idea lol.

nah, i think they will figure it out by themselves when they see something is wrong. i'm just giving out the example of how it supposed to look like. up to them to how to use it correctly lol.

w00t, the smudge tool effect. Gotta love it. (even though I've only used it once... you're not the only one who hates grass....)

I guess I'm one of the people who should leave the premises for the newbs?

Just a little other thing... The direction of the "smudged" grass would be blowing in a different direction from the "brushed" grass, unless you smudge to the right... I guess that's why the grass tool is irritating. XP

There are also more spatter brushes to experiment with in Adobe, if you want to go looking in other than Default Brushes. IMO, I find this splatter too thick.

Like i said, those who wants to try it, may go ahead and try so ;3 it's not completely mandatory to actually to try mine. Besides, you don't see me go over people and say "Try this or DIE" or maybe "Haw HAW i can Do gRASS you caN't so you are teh suxx0rz" now do you? :3

That is just an example. It's up to the people who is reading that to decide which part should the grass blows to. No need to take it too seriously now.
