Very nice use of water colors. I really like the way the sky turned out in its sunset/sunrise sort of style.
So, what exactly here is being defiled? o_O
It seems like it could be a number of things, like:
A) Formerly nice cathedral becoming an old, emaciated shell due to [insert reason] = defilement
B) What's said in A + Ravens/crows getting all up in its remains (maybe even doing their 'business' on it)
C) The color and smoothness of the sky marred by the dark, decrepit silhouette of a already defiled building.
(^^^ what I first thought after looking at it)
I know art is open to interpretation, but it's always interesting to see what the artist had in mind, in my opinion.

One of the things my art focuses on is on evoking the viewer's imagination. It really is about them, and I'm glad to know that you had your own ideas of what this painting represents.
As for my own interpretation, I think of it as pretty much everything you said all together at the same time-the entire piece is devinely decadent. But at its core, it's supposed to be that the old cathedral was destroyed by an unnatural force, leaving the sacred ground tainted.

Ooo, wow, now this is good, the ruined cathidral at dusk with the crows flying and preched, its all very cool looking. I like it a lot. Very ominous looking.
