Description I mean think about it. Yeah I mean sure,we have the 90's with their X-men and X-Force and even the Power Rangers had their crazy stories thanks to Season 3 and Power Rangers Zeo being a lot more grown up than MMPR did in terms of its story and characters but the 80's seem to have an influence on the 90's that it became overlooked when it comes to darker storylines and much more shadowed motives thanks to anti-heroes like Quattro Bajeena who turned out to be Char Aznable, (Spoiler alert for those who haven't watched the amazing Z Gundam anime) Optimus Prime dying in the TF The movie,Megatron - one of the biggest cartoon villains ever turning into Galvatron who is hellbent on making life a living hell for everybody,Toei in the tokusatsu reign at the time made their tokusatsus as high energy and messed up in the head which is always a treat and also the pivotal return of Godzilla which was at the time, the biggest thing to happen since he came back from hell to reign on the shores of Japan and Raymond Burr's character coming back one last time to see that Godzilla goes away for good.

As always, none of these characters belong to me but they do belong to their respective owners and companies alike.

This is from an outsider's point of view, but while I consider the 1980s to be the golden age of dark kids films, most (if not all) of them were obscure films that eventually gained cult fanbases. The 90s were when that sort of attitude went mainstream. Would you consider that to be true?

You can say that..heck,who's to say that that growing cult status mentality is what brought the 90's into the mix?

Votoms need to be mention here.

The pre-40K anime series (coincidence, take place during the 72nd century just like take place in the Dark Age of Technology and began of Age of Strife). The whole anime is unlike Gundam because they using mature themes, militaristic, Vietnam War, and Industrial. The series take place where both sides are Gilgamesh and Balarant killing each Β other for planets, or resources during the Hundred Year War.Β

The series spanning 53 episode, 6 OVA and one spin off series, Armored Hunter Mellowlink.

Area 88, AKIRA, and Legend of The Galactic Heroes need to be mentioned too.

Also,40K,don't you mean 4K?

RyugaSSJ3 In reply to Khai2000 [2019-02-06 16:39:05 +0000 UTC]

Uhhh,no. I don't think so. Warhammer isn't even by Sunrise. Nor was it made by Ryosuke Takahashi.

Khai2000 In reply to RyugaSSJ3 [2019-02-06 17:41:01 +0000 UTC]

I know. But the concept of VOTOMs is inspired from Mad Max, Rambo, Dune, Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Oddyssey, and Apocalypse Now.

When I watch the series, the story is about hundred war in the future. And remind me of the Dark Age of Technology from 40K.

The mech in the series is industrial and even militaristic. The Scopedog is based from Zeon Zaku.

funny how despite being censored (silhouettes, white 'blood') , it feels better than the red stuff in the modern ovas.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Combatkaiser In reply to RyugaSSJ3 [2016-09-02 11:48:51 +0000 UTC]

most of it feels the red actually censors the gore. at certain shots, the body just bursts into red completely that you don't see them ballooning up then exploding.

RyugaSSJ3 In reply to Combatkaiser [2016-09-02 12:00:55 +0000 UTC]

Because Toei are pussies. XD JK,man. I know it is really gory and shit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Combatkaiser In reply to RyugaSSJ3 [2016-09-02 16:30:23 +0000 UTC]

It only applies to mooks in groups though. solitary mooks can be gory as heck in the modern ovas. with mooks it feels the blood explosions are actually some sort of censorship (think a water balloon instantly popping instead of water balloon being filled to capacity then popping). at least that's what i feel when seeing it in action.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RyugaSSJ3 In reply to Combatkaiser [2016-09-03 04:23:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah because well, even if the mooks are just cannon fodder, you do feel bad for them since they were ONCE human but they gone rogue.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Combatkaiser In reply to RyugaSSJ3 [2016-09-03 04:39:21 +0000 UTC]

there's punishment then there's cruel and inhumane punishment (the type where you know the punished is bad but the punishment makes you feel sympathy)Β

in the tv show, mooks don't just inflate but inflate in weird ways (either focused on just one area or multiple inflations in other areas) which add to the body horror.

most of it are in silhouette but some mooks they show it but with white "blood" instead of red.

real awkward when it's toki using his merciful fist technique on them.Β
