I wouldn't say that I mainly take photo's of flowers but when I look back at the last weeks photo's there's always a fair few in there. Whenever I see one I start to look if it would be suitable for a shot.

Don't get me started!
I've just started to get back into photography and I'm desperate to get enough money together to buy a good camera and some decent lenses.
At the moment I've only got a multi purpose fixed lens camera (Finepix S5700) and I'm trying to persuade my better half that an upgrade is essential. I shouldn't complain really it's a good little all rounder and on the macro setting it is, I think, quite good.

omg wow this is amazing! This looks amazingly delicate, the pedals looks soft to the touch, and the cream collowed shadows along each fold of pedals make the rose appear to smell absolutely delectable, wonderful capture!!

I hadn't noticed until I got them home but these particular flowers were very badly effected with blemishes on the outer petals and the only way to get a decent shot was to get in really close on a macro setting, this forced me to pay more attention on the composition. Even the slightest movement seemed to reveal yet another mark.
Similarly with the lighting; I like to use natural light but getting in close interferes with the light quite dramatically so you have to be careful to keep an eye on how your movements change the shot all the time. The good thing is that the closer you get the more light you can reflect back onto the subject as long as you avoid getting in between the light source and the subject

I was particularly pleased with the outcome of this shot because all of the roses had some sort of blemishes on their outer leaves so the only way of avoiding them was to get in close
