Description WARNING: Ridiculously, monstrously huge file. If anyone has trouble viewing it, let me know, and I'll split it into 2 parts.

So... I was bored today, and though, "hey, why not make a tut?" Thing is, I didn't count on it taking as long as it did. I spent abut... 5 hours on this thing, and by the time I was done I was way to tired to edit it. So sorry about grammar and spelling mistakes. If anything doesn't make sense, just let me know, and I'll try to clear it up. Hope you find this helpful!

when u download a font, do you have to move it into gimp - fonts, so that u can use the font?
i used to download them and upload them on my pictures in lunapic

Thank You, I have allways wondered how people got those amazing fonts ^.^
I have two questions though...
1) I decided to download a font on DaFonts, but when I tried to open the file, GIMP said it was an "Unknown File" Is there any way to fix that?
2) And I was curious about how you got the text effect for "Aaaand that's it folks"? It's really cool

This tutorial just saved my graphic! I was trying to put a border around some text but it looked very pixel-y. I hadn't thought to use a filter effect! Thanks! c:

As old as this is, the text along path part is a life saver! I'll be using this method for text from now on as I suck with text normally

This is very helpful!

But for some reason, my Text Toolbox isn't showing up with all options. I click text, and all I can do is add the Text tab, which shows fonts, and no other options. :/

No, but it may be soon. Sahara (the admin of the tutorial forum) has contacted Embla, and she might get it up again soon.

I have just switched from Photoshop to GIMP, so I'm clueless as to text effects, etc(I know they're the same things you can do on PS, but the layout and execution of them seems a little different). This tutorial has helped a lot. Thank you for making it!
