When it comes to anime, I didn't watch a lot myself, so no fandom curses as such, BUT...
There is one such fandom that is the closest thing to anime and I'm actually cursed by recently.
TOUHOU!!!
Basically it is this game franchise where you play this Shrine Maiden, Reimu Hakurei, who needs to deal with various shenanigans involving yokais in the realm of Gensokyo. The rest is too much to explain.
Why should you check this fandom out is because of the fandom's RIDICULOUS size, not to mention all the memes around it. The games themselves have been around for more than 20 years, and the fandom too is quite old, yet endured its size until today.
Like your Boku No Hero, Touhou is liked for its characters, but another feature that drives the fandom to its size is its BGM, or background musics. You definitely need to listen to them, they are some of the best sounds I've ever heard. The musics have also generated a number of well-known remixes, some made by organised music groups such as IOSYS, Innocent Key and Alstroemeria records that are formed by influence from the game's musics.
Although the franchise have no official anime, there are quite a number of near-professional quality anime based on the franchise. I suggest you go to Touhou's knowyourmeme page for some suggestions.
I'm just trying to share something that I'm similarly addicted to, and also of anime related subject...

I was really afraid that this anime was just going to have edgy edge weeabo OCs and boring kawaii moe girls that sit on their butts and do nothing all day but act as fanservice.
And then the tournament arc happened and now Todoroki's backstory almost made me cry and Uraraka has one of the coolest powers in the show.
This is my favorite anime/manga next to One Piece now.

Honestly, this is what happened to One Piece in my eyes. It's nothing but fanservice now which is sad because it used to be my absolute favorite anime.
But yeah, I'm from the same cast as you, I appreciate these animes with well done and deep characters.

Oh, the anime really loves to have those booby shots, but the manga is where it's at. I mean, I like boobies as much as the next guy, but it really gets obnoxious in the anime. Toei animation doesn't do the story the justice it deserves. I stopped watching the anime and have read the manga every week for five years now and nothing has topped it for me so far. But My Hero Academia is certainly the first to capture that same sense of adventure.

Yeah, I completely agree with you. The Manga is better than the Anime, I have almost 60 books of it, so yeah I was pretty obsessed. xD
Though, my obsession actually started with the Anime, the first and second season are great, I watched them endlessly.
Then it slowly became boring, a single episode had no content at all, they dragged the plot ridiculously long. And the way they started drawing female characters made me cringe so hard. So I stopped watching the anime but still continued with the Manga.
Eventually the Manga became worse too though, in my opinion. Oda changed his art style so much that I couldn't stand it anymore. And then when *cough* a certain someone *cough* with a certain relationship to Luffy *cough* died, it gave me the rest. xD I still have my books and I like to read the first 20 again and again, but all in all I'm unfortunately over with One Piece due to how much it changed. :C
So I was super happy about Boku No Hero being similar to good old One Piece, I really needed that.

Yeah the problem with season 1 was while still very good, it only adapted chapters that focused around Midoriya and Bakugou in order to set up a sort of bar that Deku was aiming to pass and how the two characters revolved around each other's motives and desires. That's why when season started you got many more character moments with Uraraka, Iida, and of course Todoroki. I'm not sure if you're only watching the anime or not, but the manga has done a good job of developing most of class 1-A as well as others like All Might, Aizawa, the villians, and some characters that haven't even been introduced in the anime yet. One of my favorite characters is Kirishima, and unfortunately he doesn't get a lot of attention until much later on but the development he does get makes him easily one of the most likable characters among the cast.
Still waiting on some Ashido, Tokoyami, and Jirou development tho...

This time I decided to only watch the anime, so I'm eager for the next episodes.
Oh boy, Kirishima is gold! I only noticed on the second run all these little actions that make him a great character. In the beginning I judged his looks and thought he's just gonna be a second Bakugou, but then I was proven so wrong. Love how kind and polite he is and how he's always the one reconciling his classmates and caring, making sure everyone is fine.
Honestly, I can't wait to get to know more of him.

Well even if you decide to just watch the anime, I'd still recommend checking out some of the chapter sketches. The Artists makes one for every chapter/volume of the manga, and a lot of them have really good character interactions.
